Sucks to hear, hope the recovery process goes well. At least no coaches don't have to feel guilty benching him for Birch.

Bamba literally wasn’t physically capable of sustaining the 82 game season. Stress fractures are generally “wear and tear” injuries and common in young basketball players who aren’t used to playing the amount of games and practices in the short amount of time. Good thing they caught it when they did. Shut him down if you need to. IIRC, Embiid suffered from stress fractures early on as well.

Bamba was playing well (in limited minutes) for a stretch there. Which was important for his development.

Tough luck for him though, hopefully he comes back strong.

Another example of why the intelligent posters here kept telling the less intelligent posters that Bamba isn't ready to be a starter playing 30+ minutes a night like they seem to think he deserves quite yet.

wasnt thrilled about Bamba as the draft pick anyways. this isnt great news. Hopefully they just take the time to rebuild him like the $6million man. Bigger, stronger, better

This is key reason why some of us were kept saying he can't play as starter any time soon... His body simply isn't nba ready.
Where he holds some muslces in upper body, his legs are so underdeveloped to carry weight ,pushing,shoving and grind of a season.

Hopefully he will recover fast enough to prepare for next season.

I don't think one stress fracture while not good isn't that big of a deal, he hasn't had a history of them has he? He just needs time to strengthen up.

Young raw big man for the magic misses significant time due to an injury. Sounds about right.

Well I guess like posters have been saying that maybe he needs to build more muscle before he plays any significant minutes.

Made it 766 minutes, or 23 games if he'd played starter minutes. Nice season bud.

This is literally the best thing that could have happened for him. Assign him a personal chef at the expense of the Magic and he can take off of cardio and put on 30 pounds prior to training camp. Start doing cardio and he'll be at a respectable weight once the season starts.
