Are we going to make a deal?
Simple question, are we going to make a deal before trade deadline?

Grant or Simmons for cash considerations.
Maybe Ross for a first or young prospect from a playoff team.

Option D
Gotta evaluate and see if we should run it back for year #8 of this.

A very minor deal, nothing too risky. We will not mortgage the future or push too hard for playoffs. I see Simmons or Ross dealt for future assets, nothing more.

You mean like the blockbuster trade to get Jerian Grant?
Idk if they can measure up to their one and only masterful deal in 2 years, but lets hope so.

What’s the worst possible scenario for everyone? that’s what will happen.

Re: Are we going to make a deal?
I’m leaning towards no deal. We try to win games, but are mathematically eliminated from the playoffs in late March. We finish the season on a six game winning steak and end up picking 11th (this bodes well for next season according to an end-of-season John Denton article , as the guys now know what it feels like to win basketball games and will carry the momentum into next year). Vuc and Ross walk in FA for nothing. Medical concerns cause a top 3 talent to be available at 11. We draft a guy with elephantiasis of the arms instead who didn’t formally enter the draft. We forfeit our next 3 first rounders due to the violation. We sign Devin Harris as our pg of the future.
All kidding aside, I’m assuming we either stand completely pat, or make a small tweak trade like suggested above. I get illogically excited for the deadline every year just to be let down, don’t see why this year would be any different.

Deep down I think we make a trade, but weham really hasn’t given me any reason to believe it.

Re: Are we going to make a deal?
Standing pat feels like the worst case scenario.
They need to decide if they are going to definitely try and make the playoffs next year (with a miracle run this year being a bonus) or if they're going to sell pieces, try and lock yourself into the 6th pick (5th if Atlanta goes on a run) and not really worry about next season.
Chugging along to 32-34 wins and the 8th pick in the draft just doesn't seem like it would help much at all for next season and beyond.
Sure, they could sign or trade for a PG in free agency, but it would come at the expense of Ross. There's not enough money to resign Vucevic (which I believe is certainly happening) and Ross and sign someone else of value.

I don't mind Lonzo, sure he has his warts but we are depleted of talent and the facts of the matter is hes still very young, rookie scale and has an interesting ceiling.
If he can be had at a good cost I welcome him with open arms. He could immediately provide the play-making skills this team desperately needs.
And before anyone says anything about Lavar, he is a very outspoken dad that wants the best for his son. He wants his son on a team that is in need of a PG and mentioned Phoenix as a desired location so he obviously doesn't mind Lonzo playing for a losing club.

Yeah he also mentioned Phoenix would then have to sign his brothers and they'd have to all be starters because the rest of phoenix's roster doesn't know how to win....
Lonzo is a bad contract while still on his rookie deal some how, the team doesn't just need play making skills we'd be taking a step back to Payton days but with more issues.

Re: Are we going to make a deal?
If we make a trade then it will be a 1st-rounder for two 2nd-rounders in 2020/2021 at best

Not totally, first you evaluate (D) and then you decide if you like it or not (C).

Its either B or D. I think its more likely we do nothing then even a minor trade.

It's funny to me that we're so tight lipped like we don't want any of our competitors to find out we're trading for Luke Rindour

Can we get into Pelicans and Laker trade, and grab one young player from Lakers?
