Should we have kept Joe Harris?

Watching the three point contest Saturday night I couldn't help but think about how our current Magic team could've used Joe Harris, considering we traded for him in 2016 just to waive him immediately. The guy is a good rotation player with an exceptional shooting form and can play some good defense.
Would you have rather kept Harris than give him up for cash and a swap of second round picks (which is what the team basically did by taking a 2017 protected 2nd rd pick from Sacramento owned by the Cavs and giving them the Blazers 2020 protected 2nd rd pick). I would be concerned with him playing SF and taking some of those minutes, specially now when we are seeing Isaac's development, but we would've made space for him in the rotation with the way he has been shooting the ball. Perhaps he could play the SG spot and taken some minutes from Fournier whom has been struggling all year. Your thoughts?

I don't think anybody could have predicted that he would have developed as well as he has. He looked like scrub up until Brooklyn gave him minutes.

Yes, was part of cavs trade in 2016 but we cut him same day. I think he was hurt during that time.

Hard to argue against it. Shooting 47% from 3 with 64.5% TS.

Jake Layman is treading upwards too, by the time he's 27 like Harris he'll probably be shooting 45% on 3's.

My initial reaction too. But I dont think he would develop into the type of player he is now had we kept him.
Your draft position pretty much predicts the type of player development your team invests on you. The earlier you are picked, the more time they invest. Thats why some teams prefer having secound round picks or late round picks as a stash player instead.
The Nets are in a different situation. They didnt have picks, so they invested on a lot of other guys. Joe has base skills, good basketball IQ and a high character guy. attributes that you can actually bet on.

The team we could build with ex-Magicians...gravy. It'd be a powerhouse.
I, also, forgot we had Joe Harris.

many teams could play the card of "should we have kept player x who was young and hurt when we had him".
