Giannis out and its implications!

Post#1 » by mrtcsm » Fri Mar 29, 2019 7:02 pm

Giannis is out! Apparently an ankle injury. Or they might have just shut him down for the remainder of the season since they are pretty much locked as the 1st overall seed. I would doubt it given that he is fighting for that MVP award but, what are the implications for the rest of the league with Giannis out for possibly a week or two:

*Milwaukee is still a good team at worst, even without Giannis. However, there are some other team's whose season is on the line or are looking to improve their seeding during this last stretch and could take advantage of the Giannisless Bucks : OKC and Brooklyn. Brooklyn plays two more games against the Bucks and with Antetokounmpo out, I can easily see the Nets taking both of these. Not a good situation for the Magic whom are battling with DET, BKN, MIA and CHA for one of the last three spots in the EC.

*Giannis could potentially be well rested come playoff time, but how will this affect their team performance and chemistry once he returns? Being the great player he is, I can see the same Bucks team we have seen all year once Giannis gets back healthy. Great defense, hustle and ball movement. Will other teams have an edge against Milwaukee with a less than 100% Giannis? Would you rather face that team in the playoffs than Toronto or Philly?

Most obvious is that, as OP said, they play Brooklyn twice making that games far more likely to be Nets wins.

Has he even been declared out? I saw the end of the game... he never went back to the locker room and was walking around on the sidelines and after the game. He is the type to play through injury if he can.

Saw injury earlier today, doesn't look like anything serious. Wasn't even ankle roll

I would want to play the Bucks if Giannis is out. It would make the series very winnable for us.

I don’t think he’s ruled out it’s just people have speculated they should sit him till the playoffs since their record is so far ahead. I think he has said if he’s healthy he wants to play. Hopefully that happens.

This. He said that he hates skipping games so if he can play, he'll play as soon as next game.

not if his coach has anything to say about it. needs to be healthy for the playoffs. not tweak a slight injury into a major one

Now Kyrie AND Horford are also out today against BKN for “load management purposes”. That is some BS. They are tied with IND for 4th in the EC and home court advantage on the 1st rd. What the...

Has his coach said he wants him to stay out?

i dont know. Im just saying, doesnt matter what Giannis wants, if he isnt 100% healthy, his coach needs to sit him. of course players always want to play, they will play thru concussions too, doesnt mean a coach should let them

He is listed as questionable for tomorrow.
Bucks are dealing with A LOT of injuries right now. I would prefer playing them over Raptors at this moment.

I don't think he is goin to play any more season game. I mean they have locked the 1st and that's the perfect minor injury to give him days to rest before serious things start.

Matt Velazquez: Bucks didn’t plan on so many guys being out. Giannis was planned due to his right ankle sprain. Things changed when Middleton felt something wrong in his left groin during pregame warmups. Once he couldn’t go, Bud decided to sit Bledsoe, too, considering the back-to-back. 12 hours ago – via Twitter Matt_Velazquez

sounds like Bucks don't really give a F about regular season

Yeah that goes back to few days ago when we were debating about the strenght of the schedule of our playoff race opponents and that it doesn't mean anything as teams are starting to rest players.

That win over Miami could be huge down the stretch.

would be shocked if any of them played tonight as well. B2B and they don't play again until Thursday vs 76ers. So that would be almost a weeks rest last Friday to Thursday
