So what are we hoping for tonight guys?

Post#1 » by TheGlyde » Tue Apr 9, 2019 11:19 pm

I'm thinking...

Hornets loss? - Unlikely, but it would eliminate them from playoff contention and give them no real incentive to try and play hard vs the Magic tomorrow...
Heat win? - They can't catch us and if they remain in playoff contention it gives them an incentive to try and beat the Nets tomorrow...
Pistons win/loss? - Pistons have the season tiebreaker over us so if we both finished 41-41 and Nets win tomorrow (42-40), we slip to the 8th seed. If however the Heat beat the Nets tomorrow and all 3 teams happened to finish 41-41 we would get the 6th seed (division winner tiebreaker), but... if the Pistons win to get to 40-41 tonight they eliminate the Heat (pretty sure they own the 2 and 3 team tiebreakers that involve the Heat), which would give Miami little reason to beat the Nets tomorrow.

Safer to hope the Hornets have nothing to play for tomorrow, but the Heat do and can get up over the Nets, and we can finish outright 42-40 and 6th seed I think... (go Grizzlies, go Cavs, go Heat :blank: ) :dontknow:

I kind of want Clifford to be the one to eliminate the Hornets.

This is a tough one, I say whatever scenario that gets us the 6th seed lol.

I'm pulling for a Miami win and a Detroit loss. If Detroit loses to Memphis's G-league team it would not only be hilarious but also make things really interesting tomorrow given that Char/Miami wins.

I'm all for a playoff atmosphere in tomorrows game against Char. As OrlandO said, how sweet would it be for Clifford to be the one to stop Char from making the playoffs

Pistons so far wow what are they doing... a Pistons loss would mean either 6th or 7th for us

I want a 3 way tie for 8th seed, making Heat play harder against Nets tomorrow. Lets go 6th seed magic!

Pretty sure Pistons win that 3 way tie, but Pistons and Heat play same time tomorrow so a Pistons loss tonight will keep Miami motivated.

I’m hoping for a good nights rest.

Orlando is already booked for the playoffs. I don’t care about much else related to this until Game 1.

Well the Pistons just eliminated the Heat from the post season with that comeback...

If the Heat get up over the Nets tomorrow, and Pistons beat the Knicks, then we are 6th seed no matter what (If the Pistons somehow lose, Magic and Heat have to win)... So... Lets hope the Heat want to send Wade out on a high...

We're 6th seed if the Nets lose and we win.

7th if we win and everybody else wins.

8th if we lose and the Pistons win.

7th if we win and everybody else wins.

If we lose and the Pistons win and the Heat beat the Nets, we get 6th on the three way 41-41 tie (division title tiebreaker)

Hm, I dunno if that's how it works. There's been some confusion with division tiebreakers not meaning anything and that it goes to other things first, but maybe that's just for double ties? I don't know about three way ties, I just know there are ways that we can still get 8th.

we own three way ties due to being division champs

Three-Team Tiebreaker:
1. Division winner (this criterion is applied regardless of whether the tied teams are in the same division)
2. Best head-to-head winning percentage among all teams tied
3. Highest winning percentage within division (if teams are in the same division)
4. Highest winning percentage in conference games
5. Highest winning percentage against playoff teams in own conference
6. Highest point differential between points scored and points allowed

Hoping for whatever scenario gives us #6

Detroit is probably going to win, but the Knicks have clinched the worst record in the league, so they could play hard like they did last night when they also won.

I like 6th or 8th seed, but would choose to go in on a win. I'd bet most on PHI youngsters lacking poise in the bright lights against solid Clifford/Vuc reliability. I'm not saying we'd win, just think we'd have an interesting shot. I don't want TOR.

Given the above post, I could see Mario getting 50 and losing by 20.

Not to concerned about the seeding. I just think it would be nice to finish with a winning record.

I want the 8th seed. Not just cause it gives a higher pick but its just us. The team nobody is talking about. Still nobody talking about us. I want to stay under the radar and get 2 games off the Bucks. I wont be mad at all for 6th seed. I just love that hungry 8th seed feel.

No Vooch, no J.I., maybe some more "load managements" coming.. and all I can imagine is how hungry every Magic player is to finish above .500 tonight instead.. :o
