Apology from a Raptors Fan

Post#1 » by fedord » Sun Apr 14, 2019 1:09 am

So im THAT guy. I made a stupid comment in your GT about you guys not being able to steal even one game this series. Well im here to eat crow. I let myself get suckered into thinking this Raptors team was different because of all the hype around "playoff Kawhi" and "playoff Gasol" etc. Well, what i failed to take into consideration is that "playoff Lowry" more than handily cancels out Playoff Kawhi and Playoff Gasol. You guys played a fantastic, energetic game and completely smothered us on the defensive end. You were the ones who looked like a veteran playoff team while our guys were seemingly Shook all game long, missing the wide open looks we DID manage to get AND missing 5 FTs out of 14. That by itself is a sign of playoff jitters. Not a good look for a team with 502 total playoff games on their roster. In any case, i now believe this will be a hard fought 6-7 game series with a 50/50 coinflip on who comes out on top. Cheers! and apologies again for the arrogant comments in your GT.

Its all good, that's what sports for entertainment is all about, being confident in and rooting for your team. I'm sure you're really rooting for Raptors in 5, just as I'm rooting for Magic in 4.

It's fine, you're supposed to root for your team.. just putting it on an opposing team's board obviously isn't going to go over well even if you are right lol. But yeah, thanks for manning up and eating crow even if it's just 1 game.

It's not just you but a big theme is the lack of respect for the talent on the Magic. What got me about your post was the talk about the "massive" talent gap and "blind optimism." And it's not just you, but I have a friend who's as big of a Magic fan as I am and I kept telling him, "I want Toronto, we can defend them." And he disagreed, all hyped up on the talent that your roster has. The level of talent sure favors you, but matchups are a big deal.

That being said, this could still very well be a 4-1 series for you guys. I just hope they're all competitive games...

...or blowouts for the good guys, lol.

This is why it's good to make the playoffs, we know what we're capable of because we watch every game.. a lot of these fans only see 3-4 games of us and judge us from that.

With that being said, the team also has to earn respect.. no better way than to compete hard in the playoffs.

It's all good. After all it's what we THINK will happen not what we WANT.

I still think Raps win in 6.. just never expected we win game 1 though.

Oh absolutely. In no way would I expect a Toronto fan to know anything about our team. Which made it very silly to post such things acting like he did. But kudos for coming back to eat some crow.

Clifford v. Nurse is something to keep an eye on, too.

Sports gonna sports... crazy things happen. That’s why it’s better to just let your team do the talking for you.

Normally I do not post told-you-so comments, but sine you come here ....

Augustin - 25
Lowry - 0

I really do not know what to do with those two stats as a Magic fan. It is not sustainable to depend on Augustin. And Lowry will recover to Allstar form. But yes, Orlando did steal a game.

Its all good. Sports are about being excited for your team and talking smack. That makes it fun. Eating crow is also part it lol. Respect for manning up and taking your medicine.

No worries. But the original statement was that the only way we steal a game or 2 was if you were missing all of your starters...

So to fully make you eat crow, we should steal game 2 as well lol

odd game it was indeed.
DJ normally isn't this good, Lowry normally isn't this pathetic , but strange things happen in sports.
Last night Nuggets lost home court to Spurs and Philly lost to Nets in game that was over after 3 quaters.

Because of 3 point shooting it's impossible to be sure who will win any given night. Magic shot 49% for 3 , won't lose many games when you can do that.

If you had won by a point you'd have rubbed it in. Not buying this fake apology. You are only lucky you got the bad version of Vuc and AG on offense.

Speaking for all Raps fans, we'd happily sacrifice fedord to assuage the basketball gods....

Apology from a Raptors Fan

Post#19 » by NavalAviator94 » Mon Apr 15, 2019 2:03 am

What makes Orlando dangerous against any team in the NBA is our defense. Offensively we are avg to below average but we are in the top 1 or 2 in defense right now which keeps us in games. If we don’t turnover the ball, we have a shot to win(any game) when we are locked in on D.

That said, I still think Toronto is a great team that will ultimate get to the Eastern Conference finals unless they beat themselves between the ears.
