Some interesting speculation on the Bill Simmons Podcast by Bill Simmons. Claims that D'Angelo Russell will be in Orlando if Kyrie Irving ends up in Brooklyn. So here's to hoping Irving picks Brooklyn?

Not sure there's any other way for Russell to land in Orlando. Would take some cap maneuvering by the Magic, a max contract by the Magic, and the Nets being okay with not matching. Or the Magic and Nets work a S&T. AG for Russell is the most obvious one that may work.

Let Vuc and TRoss walk, waive/buyout Moz and then work a trade for Fournier would clear some cap-space.

This isn't really about Bamba...its about Birch as he's a free agent. They are just researching for potential 2nd rd and G-L/international guys who could step in as 3d C now or in future.

First, we need to clear enough cap space for Russell. Or more realistically, a S&T. That means we have to give up someone.

But BKN needs to get his wish by signing Kyrie first.

I think it would be a long shot.

If Magic is trying to prepare for Vuc's departure, who should we target with that salary cap?

Or we just resign Vuc and Ross and trade for Conley.

If they go the Russell route (by clearing cap) then our roster would be set minus the 9.6MLE we could use. Likely use that on another bench player and it would be Birch or Bamba starting C.

Still don't think it happens especially with who it's coming from. Bill Simmonds is a HUGE Boston guy and has been very vocal about wanting Kyrie to leave. he's gone as far as saying he'd drive him to the airport

Was he talking about Kyrie teaming up with a second max player + S/T for Gordon?

Magic without massive changes can't make enough cap space to sign big time FA who didn't play for them last year.
Also, for year after, Fultz and Isaac combined salary for 4th year of rookie deal scales all the way up to $19,5M ( combined) and summer after you have to give them actual contracts.

At this point I’m not sure Fultz will even get a 2nd NBA contract much less that 4th year.

I think Nets resign Russell at all costs.

But taem will have to pick up his 4th year option this year, deadline is October 30 (that's for 2020-21 season ). If they don't, he is UFA next year. Witch defeats whole purpose of trading for him, albet not giving up much ( if anything ) for him.

Oh man could easily see them holding him out most this year to make sure he’s good for that 4th year. Can you imagine if we accept that 4th year and he can’t log minutes.

Crazy. Nobody would really mind his 4th year option if that was some random $3M salary. But guy will make $12,25M in 4th year ( if picked) ,that's higher than Ross this year, same as Vuc. Because he was 1# overall pick his salary is super high for rookie scale contract.

i think his 4th year decision needs to be made in June or something like that. So we better just expect that we are going to pick it up no matter what.

Our GM wouldn't trade for Fultz if he didn't know what he would do with his Team Option and it's very likely that he has a go-ahead from the office since the trade went down. It's a gamble, but he will go all-in for sure, IMO.

76ers didn't had the luxury to spend more than 10M on Fultz when they have a lot of FAs, but we can have this time and patience.
