Glass half full or half empty

This is me just publicly venting about the positive/negative articles about the Magic signings.
To some we did great and to others those same things were the death blow to the team.
I find it amazing how some teams can acquire and resign talent and it’s a great thing. I think they call that “depth”. But other teams like The lowly Magic that can do nothing right and it is a negative thing.
The Spurs used this model of building for many years. Run with your veterans while building your young players until they can take the vets place.
It was good for them, but for the Magic, some would seem it was a mistake.
I understand, at least for now, it seems we need a PG and more offense. But given the circumstances and where we got to last year, until there is reason not to to be, I’m going to be excited about this teams potential.

I'm excited. I think we can play similar to the 2nd half of the season with the improved bench. We will have a top 10 defense, Cliff will make sure of that, that's a playoff team.

FO chose a path and that's what a lot of us here have been arguing please pick 1. They have now picked said path and are barreling down that path of making playoffs again.

Will be extremely interesting to see how much more this team can grow together and individually. Can Vuc, TRoss and DJ replicate what was career years for all of them. Can Fournier get back to consistency and making more shots. Does AG & Isaac take another step and what does Bamba provide. Aminu provides better depth than we've had over the past few seasons and MCW is at least a 1 year deal.

DJ/MCW
Fournier/TRoss
Isaac/AG/Aminu
AG/Aminu
Vuc/Bamba

Odd man out right now looks to be Iwundu as I don't believe Cliff will run a 10 man rotation. If he does than Iwundu likely slides in at the 3.

Neither.

I would say we are still pouring.

What happens with Fultz? Do we move one of our bigs and / or an upcoming expiring for a top flight PG? Will Isaac take the next step?

A lot of unknowns. But if one of them breaks the right way for us it’s a whole new ball game. If not ... then we are struggling for yet another 4-5 years.

The media has always been down on us with anything we do.They barely watch us when we're contending, they certainly don't watch us when rebuilding... they just look at what's on paper and then write their articles. I remember the year we made the finals the only media member who took us seriously most of the year was crazy skip bayless.

Don't forget about Chuck. Barkley had our backs against the Cavs when every casual and their mom was messing their pants over a Lebron/Kobe Finals with those obnoxious Nike puppets.

I'm happy. It's really good to see guys excited to re-sign and wanting to play here. The contracts we gave out are reasonable and movable. Anybody who thought we were going to blow it up after making the playoffs for the first time in nearly a decade is crazy.

We've got a playoff team with a great coach and we've still got plenty of solid young assets. Enjoy it.

Re-signing the two guys who were key in winning the division and making the playoffs for the first time in years to reasonable deals was the best course of action to take.

re-signing those guys was good but unless Fultz comes up big I don't have a lot of hope that this season will be much better than the last

Setting aside Vuc and Ross cause its a bigger debate.

How can you adress that tiny small need for a backup pf or f in general yet you completely ignore your most glaring hole at both guard spots for few seasons straight. Its like they are in denial.Like hey Jeff you know we need guards?and Jeff is like Image

We already got the worst guard rotation in the whole league and we dont give 2 fks about that it seems.
This roster is a DJ injury away from being a distaster.
Right now you all are banking on Fultz and belive me you are going to lose that bet.Even if he somehow manges to play he will struggle with his shot for sure.We should have add more scoring/shooting.Instead we went for Aminu.I like him but Id rather sign guard who can shoot and find a stopgap pf for peanuts.
We draft pf we sign pf...its insanity

I'm over it. Vuc's deal was 1 year longer than I had hoped, 2 years longer than I wished. Money was never an issue with me unless we bid against ourselves, which I'm not totally convinced didn't happen. Love the Ross signing.

I only see these signings as place holders to sustain our momentum. They are not what's going to make us true contenders. Being a pretender is fine. It puts people in the seats and doesn't rush the development process.

Our true path to contention relies more heavily on the continued development of Gordon, Isaac, Bamba, Okeke, Fultz future 1sts, or the assets we get from trading them. I still see star potential in all of them and maybe that's where my blinders are on.

I'm glad that no one is fooling themselves into saying that Vuc is gonna lead us to a championship so I think the fanbase is at least sane in that regard. He is a good transitional piece and I have no issues with transitional pieces unless they become roadblocks.... but apparently his supporters are saying he will be good trade bait when that happens (we'll see about that, but at least they're telling themselves the right thing to keep sanity).

I never believed that tanking was an automatic result of losing Vuc. Felt there were other ways to use or preserve the cap space but we are here now. At least we have a direction. All there is left to do is cheer.

Next year will be interesting for us because other teams will come to Orlando ready to play harder.
We won't get as many freebies as we did this year.
On the flip side, our confidence will be greater.
And many of our young players should have improved their games somewhat.

I'm right in the middle. We kept the reason we made the playoffs, Vuc and Ross, but we didn't sufficiently address why we didn't go farther than the first round. I'll channel the wise words of Steeler's Wheel, I'm stuck in the middle with you.....clowns to the left of me, jokers to the right. First round exit until we get someone that can create some offense. I'll patiently await the next move. :D
