Do you think that given all of the last weeks news the Magic will make next year's playoffs: yes or no?

Barring significant injuries (to Vucevic and Augustin specifically), the Magic should make the playoffs.

The East took a big step back this summer. There are two tiers now:


Tier 1: Philly/Mil


Tier 2: Toronto/Boston/Indiana/Orlando/Brk/Miami


Seeds 3-8 are wide open at this point. Maybe Tatum/Brown take a step and Boston separates themselves, Maybe Siakam takes another step and Toronto separates, Maybe Indiana with Brogdon/Lamb and Dipo coming back are a lot better than people are predicting, Or maybe Isaac takes a step/Fultz comes back healthy and Orlando separates.

Who knows, but right now there are just a whole lot of maybes. One thing I do know for sure though is a Philly/Milwaukee conference finals is about a sure of a lock as I remember in recent memory.

I can't see SAS missing the playoffs, don't care what's going on in the West. As for us, I would like our team and I think they can improve from last year.

Voted yes, because I'm an optimist and our roster is deeper while also having the arrow pointing up age-wise (meaning our younger players should get better more than our older players should decline, seeing as we hardly have any real 'old' players).

I could definitely see some scenarios in which we don't make it, catastrophic injuries being one of them.

We better... it will not be pretty for management to explain taking a step backwards after committing to the roster.

I wonder if Aminu starts if we are fighting for the number 3-4 seed. I like how we matchup against 76 ers, we could win in a 7 game series.
Embiid- Vucevic
Horford- Gordon/Aminu
Harris- Isaac/Aminu
Simmons- Fournier/Aminu
Richardson- Dj/MCW(Fultz?)

We can shape our roster as we like defensively and on offense Vucevic outplayed both Horford and Embiid. Richardson could be a problem defensively but only if Fultz is not healthy.

I think we can get 5-6 seed.

With a healthy Bamba, hopefully healthy Fultz, and the whole group back with another year's experience, we should easily be top 6. If everything clicks, we could be winning our first playoff series with this group. I REALLY hope Fultz is as advertised and can be our superstar.

Yep. If I had to bet right now I'd say 5/6 seed depending on injuries. East got weaker and we got deeper.

Plus we won't have half the season with Grant and Simmons costing us wins.

Can't see Toronto that high. While I like Siakam, he got the benefit of playing next to Leonard. Now, all eyes will be fixed on him.

Augustin is going to regress, based on his career arc, what he did is not repeatable for him.

So the question is, will we see improvement elsewhere? I’m not really sure. I feel like we are basically the same, and it just depends on whether we are more of the first half team from last season, or the team that showed up in the 2nd half of the season.

I think we win 40-44 games again, and have no idea if it will be enough to get in.

Also, I think Indiana is clearly better than us, and so is Boston. But I’m not sure the Nets even make the playoffs in this first season with their new roster. After Irving, what do they really have?

Harris, Levert, Dinwiddie, Allen, and Kurucs. Given their additions, I really don't see any reason to think that they will be worse than they were last year even without Durant.

But have you ever noticed, that teams with Irving as the #1 option don’t really excel? Couldn’t even get the Cavs to .500, and you can make a strong argument that he made a negative impact on the dynamic in Boston.

Are the Nets actually better this upcoming this season with Irving instead of Russell?

It will be an entirely different dynamic in BRK now. There are major expectations to reckon with where there once were none. The NY media was very lenient to a scrappy group with chemistry. Now, every game will be in the spotlight and the analysis will be about who survives the roster when KD returns and who is accepted by Kyrie etc...its just a whole different animal now.

Indiana could also have chemistry issues. They just lost 3 starters; and replaced them with totally different types of players. The earliest estimates for Oladipo are mid January. Even if he gets back that early, it will take him a while to get back to game shape + he will have to integrate into a totally different unit with guys he's never played with before. That's before even considering if he even comes back as same player he was before. There are a lot of questions for them.
