I could be way wrong here, but I just can't imagine the Magic giving a 4th guaranteed contract to a PG in July.

If Fultz is still hurt and can't play by training camp, then I could see them giving a guy like Briscoe a call.

Weltman can negotiate good contracts. That is a hell of a deal for the magic IMO.

Glad to see Khem back. Hoping Jeffries can be our 15th.

Birch can ball. He knows his role and does it pretty well. He is my new favorite scrub player on the team. Lol

Umm what? They wasted our only draft pick on a guy who wont play this year and will be a year behind next year, and then sold our 2nd rounder
Didn’t completely overpay for Vucevic and was able to construct a front loaded trade-able contract.

THis might be the only good thing they did
Resigned 6MOTY candidate for below market value.

I like ross, but below market value? He got something like 3-4m more per year than Jeremy Lamb who very similar
Signed a starting caliber player with the MLE

Makes the drafting of Okeke even worse and that money could of been used on better players at bigger needs. And overpaid for him. Hes not that good, seen more than a few blazers games, and have close friends who are blazers fans, Aminu is an afterthought and no big deal as a loss to them. Says soemthing that he jumped at the deal so quickly, probably was shocked himself that someone was offering the full MLE
Now Birch where rumored projections had him pegged potentially getting offers near 8m a year.

No one, and i repeat no one was going to give birch 8m, and the only people who though he would get that were people on this board, the same people that swore up and down that Briscoe was a stud and was gonna be a hot free agent (did anyone even offer him a min deal??). Birch got what he should be getting. Hes a back up defensive big. Sure hes better than some backups, but thats about it.
Not bad, not bad at all.

Seems pretty bad to me, and even worse when you factor in the stretching of a valuable expiring contract and hurting future cap space to save the owner some money (and before people bring up the MLE next year, they probably wont use it next year so that they dont "go into tax for a team that cant compete").
Also they did nothing to try and fix the biggest hole on the team, starting PG, and instead are putting all their eggs into the fultz basket and didnt want to bring anyone in to compete because they dont want to threaten Fultz position, and i really like fultz, but even clifford said hes no where near ready for 5 on 5 right now....very comforting

Depth has not been our strong suit.... that is changing this year it feels like. Great to have that... definitely will lead to success... both on the court and on the market.

Signing a 15th man for the minimum of $898,310 will put the Magic over the luxury tax by about 223K IF Birch signed for a flat 3M I believe.

Now of course they can make a move or moves during the season to get back under pretty easily if that's the case.

Just out of curiosity do you or anyone else know when a teams payroll becomes official for that particular year?

When it comes down to Aminu, I can't help but wonder did the Magic reach out to JaMychal Green when he was available. I recalled from the last few days he turned down higher contracts in order to re-sign with the Clippers on this past week.

I don’t get all the tears of joy over Khem Birch. He’s an effort guy and provides good depth but you guys around here act like he’s the second coming of Wilt Chamberlain. I guess I was the only guy getting migraines watching him do a pretty damn good Deshawn Stevenson impression missing layups like crazy last year. He’s a less effective Bo Outlaw. He’s lucky to have gotten 6 million from us.
You look confused...let me fill you in.

Very happy to have Khem Birch back although I also feel bad for him as he might not get many minutes when he could be playing elsewhere.

Given how close The Magic are to the Luxury Tax, they will probably only carry 14 players on the main roster to start.

It's possible they could add someone towards the end of the season with their salary being prorated. Given how Timofey Mozgov did not play any games last year, the main 15-man roster will essentially be at 14 again.

For emergencies at point guard and maybe shooting guard (Not sure what Melvin Frazier Jr. could produce here and how much 2 Wes Iwundu can play), they could use their two-way players meaning if they use one of those contracts on Amile Jefferson, they need to have a combo guard on that second two-way.

It is possible they could sign a 15th to a non-guaranteed deal on a temp basis or bring someone on closer to the end of the season.

The roster is pretty set now and the news now will mostly be about the Two-Way Contracts and Markelle Fultz's status.
