Does Evan opt out after this coming year?

He has a player option for $17M for 20-21.
While 17M is a lot, He'll be 27 next summer, in 2021 he'll be 28.
I think if he wants a 4 year deal, he'll opt out, he might not get 17M a year on the new deal, but he'll get over 12M each for 4 years.
He also could opt out and re-sign with us.

If he has a similar year to this past season, no way he opts out imo.

Depends how he plays. 2020 free agency class is not good, so it would make sense for him to opt out if he returns to form and can secure a similar rate on a long-term deal. If he struggles again I doubt he opts out to take significantly less.

I can't see him opting out unless has a monster year. He would have to have by far the best year of his career.

I believe he will opt out. Just check the contract that Harrison Barnes got. They are very similar and he turned down his 25M option to sign a new 90M/4years deal.

I’m not saying HB is worth it, but I can see how he gets overpaid. Big 3 who can play small 4, defensive versatility, above average 3 point shooter. I think his archetype is more in demand than someone like Evan who’s trending down (could turn around) and has little to no positional versatility.

Well, Evan plays at 2 and 3, however I agree that HB was overpaid, but it only needs a team to overpay, not the entire league.

Very true amigo. We have different views on Fournier but if he got his shooting #’s up to a couple years ago I could see him opting for a longer deal because of the lack of heavy hitter free agents.
I think next summer is the best time to have a contract expiring, teams will have cap and not many big fish to spend on.

I'm fairly confident he opts out unless he gets hurt or takes a large step back.

A 31-year old Danny Green just got 15M per. A 35-year old J.J. Redick got 12.5M per. Harrison Barnes averaged 21M per. A 30-year old Bojan Bogdanovic got a 4-year deal at 18M+ per. A 33-year old Rudy Gay got 16M per. A 34-year old Trevor Ariza got 12.5M per. Ricky Rubiogot 17M per.
Using the maths "Predicted Market Value", Fournier was worth about 15.5M, and that was in a down year. If he gets his stats up to where they were two years ago, his value will be about 20M a year. And I think he will thus look to something very similar to the Barnes deal 4/85M. If Fournier wants to stay, in the same way that Gordon did last year and Vučević and Ross did this year, Fournier would still opt out simply to add years to the deal. I cannot see Fournier making anything less than 4/68 on a deal, and probably it will look more like 4/75 when the ink dries.

My head says he'll opt out and sign a new 4 year deal with us and then my heart will cry.

This because he will want a long-term deal.

Hopefully he doesnt opt out. Would rather he come off the books in '21. Then renounce him to go after Beal or maybe healthy Oladipo.

i think he has better yr.. last yr was his worst I see a bounce back could easy see him back to his close to 39 or 40 % from 3 ..with fa next yr he could get more then his 17... and he opts out and resign

Even if he got a contract making 13 a year, that's 52m for 4 years. With the risk of injury or just declining play, he'll opt out to sign for more years.

Is it really that obvious that he opts out?
He is getting paid starter money, but looks like a fringe bench player based on production.
If he has an amazing season (which I hope he does for our sake) then there's a possibility he opts out simply for longterm security, but if he continues his sub-par play I could easily see him opt in to become a FA in 2021 where everyone will be trying to get cap space to be players in the biggest free agency of our decade.

if he even has yr like 2018 he will opt out ..not a lot of big name fa next yr ..he will get more then that..i see 4/80..i think only way he does not opt out is if he gets hurt
