Westbrook to HOU

Post#1 » by BlueBalls » Fri Jul 12, 2019 1:01 am

For Paul, 1st rounders in ‘24 & ‘26 and two pick swaps.

Gotta think Paul is a hot potato in OKC.

Definitely. He isn't gonna wanna be there while they rebuild, and they aren't gonna want him there during the rebuild

They already got so much for Westbrook.... lol.... they might part for whatever they can to get out from underneath paul's contract.

Over under on Russ and Harden's first fistfight over the ball?

I'm actually a little surprised we didn't get in on it for the price he went for. CP is of no use to them. I'd have to think we would have given up Bamba, Fournier and at least 1 draft pick or two.

Houston grabbing Westbrook isn’t a surprise at all. They’re desperate to win and they were falling behind LA x 2, the Blazers, Jazz and in the West. I’m not sure they could still beat Golden State. Now they at least remain in the conversation with 2 former MVP’s. I still think they’re behind 5-6 teams.
You look confused...let me fill you in.

Suposedly, Hou was Russ' top option. OKC looked out for him.

Agreed. They did him a solid. But the other WT also said Miami was seriously low-balling them and maybe we did put an offer in and OKC said no. I'm just saying for the deal OKC got, we could have given them something at least if not more competitive in my opinion.

They are massively set up or their future and managed to get off a terrible deal. They’ll move Paul. They still got SGA. Unfortunately they still have Adams contract.

Thunder are in a decent spot but I don't think we should be MASSIVELY overhauling ourselves either. Now, maybe in a few years if nothing works out...

Surprised Russ wanted Houston. Morey won't flinch to trade him to anywhere offering a return. Sometimes you should be careful what you ask for. I hope it works out though.

...at least it's not in our conference to Miami!

Chris Paul won’t be there long.

Looking like a fun future rebuild for OKC. Now they just have to hit all their marks, it’s not easy.

As for Houston, have fun in that bloodbath of a western conference. At least it will be entertaining to see those two together again.

Ok so lets reseed these Western Conference teams, I got

1.Clippers
2.Lakers
3.Nuggets
4.Rockets
5.Jazz
6.Trail Blazers
7.Mavericks
8.Pelicans

OKC will be the worst record in the NBA.

Paul for Dragic + Waiters/Johnson and a first makes too much sense. That's likely all Miami were offering for Westbrook, but it's a more fitting offer for Paul. And OKC squeeze out a couple of picks from Houston, too.

If OKC squeeze anyone like Bam or Herro out if Miami, then it's a long term fleecing, but makes sense now for both.

Yes, and Russ had a trade kicker in his contract so no team that he didn't want to go to was going to take that.

Pelicans + Mavs + Spurs + this CP3 version of the Thunder would all be in a thick mix for 8th seed. It will be a super competitive conference.

I think Golden State will surprise people with how competitive they remain, and how well D'Lo ends up fitting them. Jazz might end up regular season champions, too.

If Paul gets shipped to Miami, it doesn't make much difference to the West, but it would make a big difference to the East. Would push Miami up into a top 4 seed, possibly.

The time to strike in the East is now, I reckon. No clear favourites until we know what happens to KD. Giannis and Embiid seem beatable in the right matchups.

Who will come out on top?

OKC is the worst team in the NBA, Certain players can play but that roster as a collective team is TRASH. Maybe they finish better than the Suns or Knicks but to think OKC has any shot at the playoffs is so TRASH.

Nawlins won't make the playoffs. Too young, gotta go through their lumps this year. GS will be middle of the pack. It's basically the team pre Durant with Russell as Thompson. Not quite as good but he can still hit open 3s when Curry gets it going. Draymond still doing his thing on defense. They obviously wont be as good, but dropping all the way out of the playoffs I don't see it.
The hero Orlando deserves is out there somewhere, Dwight was not the one we needed. So we will hunt for him...
