Magette averaged 5.14 APG to just 1.29 turnovers per game in the summer league for the Spurs.

A 'strong showing'? He shot poorly and handed out a few assists but he doesn't look like either a gunner shooter or a lengthy defender, so not sure what WeHam are seeing here. Who knows, maybe he's our FVV in a season or two?

He's 29 years old so it's not like he has a lot of developing left.
That said... he's a really good passer and playmaker which is exactly the kind of guy you want around the guys you actually want to develop down in Lakeland.
Led the G-League in assists (10.14) in 17-18.

I'm wondering if the Magic are planning to put a larger emphasis on the developmental aspect of G-League team in Lakeland this year. The Raptors have done a really fantastic job of developing talent that way which started while Weltman was there and the Magic may be looking to follow suit?
If that's the plan, this Magette move makes some sense because you lock in a guy who can really pass and help the development of younger guys with his playmaking.
He's not any good at the NBA level though.

Instinctively I got excited seeing Maggette, thinking of Corey, lol. Maybe it was his nephew or something, but alas not.

This seems like a waste of a two-way contract to me, but what do I know? If I had access to advanced statistics and years of experience in a highly competitive environment, I would probably appreciate the value in signing a soon-to-be 30-year-old scrub.

It's still possible Jeffries gets the 15th man spot.
And there's still another two-way spot.

I think this is a good signing for one of The 2 Two-Way Spots.
With the uncertainty surrounding Markelle Fultz and only two (DJ and MCW) other point guards on the roster, The Magic needed an emergency point guard option who could come up during their eligible 45 days when the team is thin at point guard.
Magette fits this need. He will also be a good veteran presence for the young players in Lakeland.
This is exactly what I wanted for one of the Two-Way spots. I would like to see DaQuan Jeffries get the other Two-Way Deal.
