Jerian Grant Signs With Qingdao (China)

Post#1 » by Howard Mass » Mon Aug 5, 2019 11:36 pm

Jerian Grant is off to China.

Read on Twitter

It's not a surprise as it was at best a non-guaranteed deal in the NBA or The G League.

While it did not work out here, Grant was a professional and wish him the best.

LOL at the people that thought he could fight for a starting spot despite his abysmal career stats coming into last season.

China is doing it wrong, they should be signing european players with high BB IQ, that way their chinese-born players would improve in the future.

That's the same way MLS does when signing world-class players almost retiring.

I feel bad for the guy but sadly he's just not an NBA player. Hope he does well in China.

If he can’t inflate his stats in that league, he’s never going to come close to sniffing the NBA again.

Some gems from the thread when Grant first got here. Left the usernames out because I can't fault anyone for being optimistic. Fun looking back though.

Starting PG: Briscoe
Backup PG: Jerian Grant
3rd string PG: DJ Augustin

Augustin your done here unless Briscoe/ Grant get hurt, get into foul trouble, ejected from the game or need rest but hopefully Augustin gets traded. We should try to trade DJ but he's making $7 million this year and next year at age 30.

I guess we’ll see but I’m not taking Bulls fans’ word as gospel. See my other post for why I think Grant has a chance of improving with the Magic.

Per 36 he basically looks like a better shooting Elfrid.

He is a dynamic player and his pass first mentality will benefit Isaac, Gordon and Bamba who cannot create their shots on a consistent basis.

Grant is not the shooter DJ is but he is a much better defender and playmaker. Briscoe is an unknown, could be better than both.

Grant is solid when given consistent minutes. Think of him as a younger but more athletic/aggressive version of Shelvin Mack.

He will eventually beat out DJ Augustin for the starting job.

I think we would all be better people if we could say this about ourselves now and again!
