His team The Quigdao Doubloe Star Eagles might be releasing him.
It's a tough break for him if true as his only options to be overseas or in the G League.

just remember, he probably only took home half of that. yes, its still a lot of money, but not quite as much as it initially looks like.
The effective tax rate on the top 1% is less than 30%.
Even back in the 1950s when the tax rate on the top income earners was above 90%, the effective tax rate was well below 50%.

There are more than taxes hitting that cash before they take it home ...

“Living off the interest”
While this sounds nice, what in the world of sports makes you think he has saved his money these past 4 years to be able to do that today?
With the exception of a few, most of these guys see the next payday as a given and spend crazy money faster than it comes in.

I disagree. I think players are smarter and the advice they get is better. Especially with Grant being the son of a ball player, I'm sure his dad & uncle made sure their boys know to save.
He'll be fine with his checks and his Notre Dame degree.

He took home half. The player always complain about it.
It is one of the reason Mirotic did alright. He making just under 10 million annually. In the USA he would have made about 18 million per season.
The European teams pay your taxes. In the US team player does.
The player loses half off the top in the US.
