Miami Heat to welcome back fans with help of Covid-sniffing dogs

Ticket holders will be screened by Covid-19 detection dogs upon arrival at American Airlines Arena for tonight's game against the Los Angeles Clippers.

The Miami Heat will have fans in the stands Thursday night for the first time in months with the help of some particularly fast and accurate Covid-19 detectors — virus-sniffing dogs.

Ticket holders will be screened by Covid-19 detection dogs when they arrive at America Airlines Arena for the 8 p.m. game against the Los Angeles Clippers, officials said on the team's website.

The dogs will walk past each fan upon arrival, according to a video posted to the site. If a dog sits down, the dog is indicating that it has detected the virus, and the person and their party will not be allowed in the arena.

The Heat website specifies that the Covid-sniffing dogs have been specifically trained to identify the virus and won't sit down in the presence of someone who has simply been vaccinated.

Studies and trials all over the world have confirmed that dogs can sniff out people with Covid-19, often by detecting the scent of the virus in human sweat.

The trained dogs can often detect the virus before a person is symptomatic.

"We're familiar with explosive detection canines, drug dogs and so forth, and in this case, the dogs are trained on the odor of the virus, or the metabolic changes of a person that produce an odor that they can be trained to alert to," said Kenneth Furton, the provost and executive vice president of Florida International University, which developed a task force to train Covid-detecting dogs.

- Now for my take, It doesn't make things go back to normal at the Miami Heat as long if your still restricting fan attendance and still having prevention measures inside the stadium. If those Covid sniffing dogs are anywhere close to 100% accurate in identifying people that have COVID which the dogs seem like they are, You should have everything back to normal at the Miami Heat home games. Other places should work on installing these COVID sniffing dogs until enough people are vaccinated.

Gordon is a much better fit than Hardaway. Something like Gordon and Ennis for Brunson (PG depth), Hardaway (expiring), and right-to-FRP pick-swaps in 2022 and 2024 could work.

Orlando would be horrible for the rest of the year. But I guess many here want that outcome.

Holy Jesus what a game by Lamelo
27 points, +/- of +37 against Bucks, in win
8-10 FG
5 rebounds
9 assists
only one turnover
4 steals

Yea... this is why it's important to get top 3 pick

I am only pointing out the outcome of what this trade could look like, not my views on it.

Lamelo is very, very talented young player. If anybody can convice him to play defense ( and he has tools, his brother Lonzo is very good at it ) he will be really, really good.

So DSJr got finally traded and we won't have our annual event of discussing a trade for him with the Knicks anymore.

Well, we could start an Elfrid Payton thread.

It's about to start the month that he averages a triple-double.

Even with a top 3 pick, we probably wouldnt of picked him
We would of probably picked Patrick Williams or isaac Okoro over him, DEFENSE!!

Watching Wizards- Celtics and i'm 100% sold on idea of vaiwing Westbrook. He is as done as it gets. He took 6 mid range shots in span of 4 min, missed 4 , but what's worst is that he made ZERO passes in those possessions. Esencially possession started and ended with him dribbling into terrible shot.

Shadiqq Bey really comes along nicely into his own, in february 14 ppg, 55% for 3, including 30 points game on 10-12 shooting.
Another Magic failure to recoginize talent.

I'm fine with Cole (at 15 spot, what more do you want?)

In the draft night thread and Discord I made I kept saying I liked/wanting us to draft Saddiq but nobody else was really on board for some reason. Kira and Nesmith were more hyped here.

Still early in careers though

We can have this conversation in 3 years.

Backup point guard made less sense than a potential true SF (something that Orlando hasn’t had in years) after the Magic committed to Fultz.

Cole sharing the floor with Fultz still doesn’t sound appealing even if he surpassed expectations at pick #15.
