I thought a lot of people were high on Jeffries. What happened? I also thought he barely played in garbage time.

I'm surprised they couldn't find someone better than Magette.

I also expected Magette to be on this list.

I was a little surprised that annual Media Guide created shortly after media day includes Maggette and nobody from waivers...

As far as I know, the CBA requires teams to carry a minimum of 13 players.

I think what Robbins is referring to is the "minimum league wide roster." The NBA guarantees a league-wide average of at least 14.5 players per team by the end of the season. The league as a whole is surcharged if they do not meet the average.

I'm not certain, but I don't think that this "requires" the Magic to add a 14th player.

CBA (Page 382):

Spoiler:
Section 1. Active Roster Size.

Each Team agrees to have twelve or thirteen players on its Active List and to have a minimum of eight players on the bench for all Regular Season games. Notwithstanding the foregoing, any Team may from time to time as appropriate, but for no more than two consecutive weeks at a time during the Regular Season, have eleven players on its Active List.

Section 5. Minimum League-Wide Roster.

Beginning with the 2017-18 Season, if for two consecutive Regular Seasons (e.g., 2017-18 and 2018-19 or 2018-19 and 2019-20, but not 2017- 18 and 2019-20), NBA Teams in the aggregate employ an average of less than fourteen and one-half (14.5) players (excluding Two-Way Players) per Team, then for each Regular Season covered by this Agreement that follows such consecutive two-year period, the minimum Inactive List requirements set forth in the first two sentences of Section 2 above shall be increased by one (“League-Wide Roster Increase”), so that Teams would for the remaining Seasons of the term of this Agreement be required to employ fifteen players per team (excluding Two-Way Players) except as permitted in accordance with Sections 1 and 2 above.

If the Magic do want to add a player to the roster, they can do so by using either their Bi-Annual Exception ($3,623,000) or a Minimum Contract Exception (from player with 0-year experience: $898,310 to a player with +10-year experience: $2,564,753). They would not go into Luxury Tax to do so:

He's one of those guys that's a great athlete but the fundamentals are lacking. Like the one dude we had years ago can't remember his name he could jump out of the gym but the rest of his game was lacking.

As a team we probably are known for having those high flyers like Vince, Tmac , Steve Francis, AG, Richardson... or you talking about thoae 2nd round scrubs?

But yeah... even in garbage time they didnt showcase him good or bad so wr could at least see whats lacking.

Jeffries clearly didn't impress in camp and practices. And it didn't help that he went scoreless in those 5 games of garbage time.

Magette and Jefferson are on 2-way contracts. So max, they can be in the NBA for 45 days this season.

The Magic are probably going to sign someone tomorrow/Tuesday since we're currently at 13 and most indications are the Magic need to be at 14 players.

Cam Payne just got waived by Toronto, can we somehow sign him?

I'm more than confident that there are at least 500 unsigned basketball players better than Cam Payne

Not too interested in McKinnie.

He's already 27 and hasn't shown much at all when he's actually gotten to play. I think Iwundu is just as good/a little bit better.
