Aaron Gordon Trade Value

It seems more and more likely that the Magic will pursue a wing scorer over the next 12-24 months.
If Gordon ends up being the player that gets sent out what do you think he could return in a trade?
More generally what do you think Gordon’s trade value is?

Well a gordon trade where we get back equal value would be tough because if we are expecting back a top option, we will likely have to give up more pieces to make salaries work because of the way gordons contract is structured
so the common trade idea on this board (site wide, not just magic board) is Gordon for D'angelo russell of the warriors. On paper it makes alot of sense for both team. Gordon is the perfect PF for that offense once everyone is healthy and is from the bay area, and russell is a scoring combo guard (basically what we are all hoping fultz becomes) who would easily lead this team in scoring and be the guy to close out games, and played his HS ball in orlando.
But, Russell makes 27 mil a year and Gordon makes about 19-20, so we would have to include to make the salaries work. So of the guys that are on the team, who make the trade valid, who are you willing to include with AG to get Russell? Fultz? bamba? Isaac? Aminu (YES PLEASE!)? DJ?
DJ is the only one that is realistic. So who is ok with DJ\AG for Russell?
A trade that works but i dont see the nuggets agreeing to is AG for Barton and Michael Porter Jr
AG for Buddy Hield works on paper, but the kings would say no as they dont have a use for AG with Bags there
So really, what is realistic in a gordon trade? I think no matter what if we trade him, we will not get value back for him and will hurt the team in the short term, so trading him would likely be giving up on the season

I would not want to take on Russel's salary without dumping Vuc's at the same time... wait a second, vuc for russell is even better... as far as gordon goes, a package for Beal would be ideal

I agree...except that beal just signed a 2 year 72mil extension.... that would take quiet a bit of working to make the contracts fit for that deal

I honestly feel that the moment we trade him the other team will reap all the benefits. He has it in him, he really need to analyze his offensive game though. Once that opens up he’ll be fine.

He'll benefit if he ends up with a really good playmaker, just like everybody on this team.

Washington is a train wreck. Even though Beal signed I still think they would be open to it. I'd prefer Evan and Bamba for Beal. Maybe throw in a future 1st or Okeke as well. Going a proven 20 point a night scoring wing like Beal would do wonders for AG I believe. It's becoming very apparent that AG will never be that go to guy. But if he had a dude on the wing that was the scoring man and drew attention AG would thrive. Plus he could defend the teams go to guy while Beal didn't have to. I just really like rooting for AG, would hate to see him go. But I do think inevitably we do deal him to try and get more scoring eventually.
I really think the team would take off if you subbed Evan for Beal. But Wash would probably want AG.

My bad I mistook Beal for CJ from POR. WAS has Hachinura so I dont think they want AG... POR in thr other hand... with Nurkic and Collins out. Plus the usual hradache with Whiteside... heck they even have Mario as their starting PF now. They need frontcourt help and AG and Bamba will do wonders.

I’m totally fine shopping Gordon for the right return.
Getting a dynamic backcourt scorer is still the goal.

McCollum in Portland is the guy I would be keeping an eye on. It would make a lot of sense for both teams. Portland is off to a 3-6 start and is desperate for forwards. Their current roations is easily the worst in the league. I'd be very intrigued by a AG/Cj swap.

I really like CJ, but still doubt this happens. I dont think Portland gonna trade him, because they have Whiteside's expiring to trade first.
Plus adding Gordon, is kinda Gordon / Isaac combo again. Collins got a pretty similar playing style to JI. Which means Gordon as a SF again. Don't think they gonna trade for Gordon, just because Collins misses 4 month.
For us: Despite that he brings a lot we need, his contract really scares me. He doesnt bring anything more than mediocre high volume scoring. If he is off (like he is so far this season), he is a net negative out there. 2nd. I doubt his contract ages really well, because he is really undersized & if he gets one step slower, he could be a low efficiency high volume scorer.
In the end i would probably risk it, because we went all in anyway & he is a much better fit than Gordon. But i doubt POR does it.
After the season, could be a bigger chance, when Simons gets more efficient over the season.

Im just torn what i would look for.
Part of me belives that Evan and Ross could play SF anyway so "guard" is more position of need.
lso looking at lack of impact Fultz has maybe having ballhanlding PG-SG player is best thing to look for ( Beal/ Russell ).
My favorite moves would be CJ McCullum or Jrue Holiday but i assume in both cases third party would have to be involved.
Ofc if you can add high quality SF that's also smart, but i don't see who.

You can't trade for Beal this season.

He just signed an extension so he can't be traded until closer to the tradeline anyways. Depending on where both teams stand by that time, it's still a move I could see making sense for both sides. At only 28 with no major injuries, I'm not really concerned with his age.
I don't disagree that he is overrated a bit though. I still think he's one of the top 15-20 guards in the league, however, and would be a drastic upgrade over anything we've had this rebuild. He also is the ideal type of combo guard to play next to Fultz. It's just something to consider. I'm a pretty big AG guy and have been a supporter of the Isaac/AG pairing so i'm not rushing to trade him, but if this team wants to go to another level they need more consistent guard play imo.

Yea his playing style is a great fit for sure. I just doubt they trade him, before they tried to trade Whiteside first. Whiteside for Love just makes too much sense for them.
He's a better fit next to Nurkic & Collins, than AG.

Simons is the guy I'd be targeting from Portland. Younger, cheaper, Orlando local, and he's already showing he's ready to be an impact scorer. He could become more with a larger role.
CJ is the proven, safer bet though.

this is the guy I want as well, doubt Portland would give him up unless it’s something good. I would consider dumping Bamba for him at this point. I don’t really want to give up that potential but man he just looks like a player that will never get it. I hope I’m wrong though.

I don't disagree, but why does Portland trade the guy who looks like he
does get it? No chance they would.

For a team trying to become more competitive, trading AG for a 20-year-old afernee Simons really isn't going to do that imo. Simons has the potential to be very good, but he is not there yet (his numbers are better but still has a -3.3 bpm for his career). I think for a team with a young project like Fultz at the PG position if they are going to move AG for somebody it's going to be for an established veteran guard, not for another young up and comer.
That's why CJ is the better fit imo, but I get why someone would prefer Simons.
