According to an NBA source, Orlando has shown interest in Dennis Smith Jr., so a bigger deal could work with the Magic if they swap the No. 8 and No. 15 slots.

Would the Magic entertain taking on DSjr to move up to #8?

— What would we have to give up?

— Who would we be targeting at #8?

If Bamba still has some lottery pick shine left on him, and they've soured on Robinson, perhaps...

#8 + Robinson + Smith

for

#15 + Bamba + Okeke

? Not sure they'd move Okeke yet, unless they really have a thing for DSJr?

Targets wise, sounds like Hayes is our man. If he's not there they may not want to move up. Having Fultz, DSJr and Hayes in the backcourt would be too short and young for WeHam's liking probably.

The Magic have had interest in Smith for a while.

Please do make a separate thread for this one.

I do think the Magic will make a trade or two this summer regardless.

I wouldnt put Smith and #15 in the same sentance. Maybe #45.
I dont think #8 is high enough to make difference. I would target Hayes, Okoro or Pokusevski.
Bold Predictions:
1. Deandre Ayton biggest disappointment of 2018 draft.
2. Nick Nurse becomes Orlando Magic Head Coach. (15.04.2018)

It would be the most WeHam thing ever to move up and select Okoro.

It would, but also Okoro is better offensively than AG imo. He is reluctant shooter which is not good but looking at AG it could very well be.

I assume Vassell would be the target at 8.

Can't imagine AG being in play for the 8th though, I would hope he has a bit more value than that. Not to mention we'd have to take back another piece to make the $$ work and I have no interest in anyone on their roster other than RJ, who they aren't giving up for AG.

Smith and #8 for Birch and #15 would be a good deal for Orlando.

I robustly disagree. At #15 the Magic is either going to draft a future bench player (e.g. Jalen Smith or Precious Achiuwa) or a very high risk player (e.g. Theo Maledon or RJ Hampton).

At #8 Orlando drafts a 3-and-D SG. Any of these is a good outcome: Devin Vassell or Aaron Nesmith.

In all of these Knick scenarios...don't they have cap space to partially absorb a bigger (AG) contract? Wouldn't that be part of the benefit to an ORL trade...We absorb DSJ and get the pick? They take the difference in AG and DSJ into cap room...so if AG is the more valuable asset, ORL also derives some bit of financial relief along with the pick and a crack at DSJ revival.

I’m not giving up AG + #15 just for DSjr and jumping 7 spots in this class.

If it’s a draft night deal and the right player falls to #8 we can talk about who to include but I don’t see a scenario where we give up AG to the Knicks here.

AG makes no sense since they have Randle. I think it's the Magic reaching out for a guy they obviously have been interested in to see what the asking price is.

Where there's smoke there's fire and this is now the 3rd or 4th time DSJ has been rumored to Orlando. Draft night, with Dallas and now with NY.

Absolutley not. Why we want DSjr?
We don't need another below 30% 3 point shooter in our backcourt. I have no interest in moving up to 8 in this draft either. Yall are underating AG if you think thats good value.

If swallowing Smith leads to Orlando moving up in the draft to select a 3-and-D SG prospect, then for me swallow away!

A trade that leads to either Devin Vassell or Aaron Nesmith would make me happy. Otherwise, at #15, Orlando is drafting for a bench player.

But not Gordon. That's an insane trade idea. Maybe Gordon and the #15 for the Knicks #8 and a future unprotected FRP. That might be fair.

Detroit needs a PG hayes could be gone at #7

Yeah, #8 seems like the worst spot to trade up to. You'd want #3 or #4 at worst to secure grabbing anyone you think might go top 10 because the draft could go any which way.

Unless the thinking is move into #8 to secure whatever prospect you really want who may be slated to go anywhere in the top 15. A name that might randomly jump a few spots, like Nesmith. DSJr + Nesmith/Vassell gives us another (potential) playmaker in DSJr, and a 3+D shooter.

Or that might only be the initial move.....3 teams involved? Golden state did say they could move back and Vassell will most likely be there at #8......I don't know if it could work or if it's possible have no idea about the cba ramifications if any but.....something between the Knicks/Orlando/Golden State does make me think....hell maybe i'm going nuts

I have very little interest in Smith Jr., but moving up to 8 is appealing to me depending on how the board shakes out. There are quite a few guys I would be interested in.

I wouldn't pull the trigger on a deal until the Knicks were on the clock though.

Im confused. So what would the trade look like. The Knicks would be giving up DSjr and the 8th pick for 15 and what exactly?
