Multiple league sources say the Magic are scouring the trade market for scoring help and have already expressed interest in trading for DeRozan.

I've honestly given this some thought myself in trying to figure out how to address our scoring woes. I'm not a huge DeRozan fan. The fact that the Spurs are trying to cut ties should tell you what the market is for him. I believe the Spurs are net negative so far with him on the floor this season. His contract is expiring after this season, which is good if you're trying to shed salary, but bad if you're worried the team will sign a 30 year old inefficient scorer to a max deal.

I'd be worried about any deal that involves Aaron Gordon for DeRozan; it's actually a non-starter IMHO. But, if the Magic wanted to trade Fournier and Augustin for DeRozan, then maybe it works. It might save money IF DeRozan opts out. Gives them an isolation scorer for a season. But you lose 2/3 perimeter shooters on the team in Augustin and Fournier (not that they're lighting it up right now).

DeRozan is kind of a dated player in today's NBA. He's better than anyone on our team at the moment at creating his own shot. But, he's not answering the fundamental problems with this team, which include shooting and playmaking. I'd be very cautious about any deal surrounding DeRozan.

On a positive note, it's good to hear that the front office is not delusional enough to believe this roster will hold up offensively during the season. Good to know they're looking to address this hole that has persisted for several years. Hopefully, there's more of a solution than DeRozan. And if it is in the mold of DeRozan, I pray they don't sacrifice any of the youth on this team for it.

Fournier + Aminu for DeRozan.... would be only offer and then would be somewhat bleh.

I posted in the AG thread the idea of trading AG for the King's Bogdanovic plus a first, which -while by no means would it be a steal for Orlando - it would give us the scoring we're looking for. Scoring that I doubt we'd get from DeRozan, given his poor shooting from 3.

Yeah they aren’t taking a guard back with their depth chart unless it’s a swap. This reeks of AG being moved now that Isaac is more than capable.

AG has wayy more value than a cap dump of DeRozan..

Hard to see a great fit financially for DeRozan alone. He makes so much money that one of Fournier or Gordon almost have to be in the deal to make it work $ wise.

If I'm giving up Gordon, I'd want at least one of White, Forbes, K. Johnson or Walker IV (if not two) along with DeRozan. Gotta get at least one age appropriate guard back if we're sending out a 24 year old forward.

I think that’s exactly the deal they are looking for. Spurs have a plethora of young guards that provide offense and a lack a starting caliber PF. Called this possibly happening earlier this season. It just makes too much sense for both teams.

Every team with DeRozan, was better with him off the floor. Gordon is more worth & without Evan we are maybe the worst shooting team of the decade. He helps drawing FT's thats it.
If we trade for a expiring, Gallo or nothing for me.

For one of the young ones? I liked Walker in the draft, but haven't checked his development after the injury. Anyone seen him play recently?

I could see this team being a mid range offensive team with elite defense and be incredibly annoying to play against. I think if we had DD and Vuc moved back to mid range where he can actually shoot, we’d get more consistent baskets. We wouldn’t win anything but still, better than we are now I guess

Derozan is shooting 0% from 3 this season. Seems like the exact kind of player Weham would target.

Yeah, not a huge fan of DeRozen but at least he creates offense. It would help if they could add K.Johnson, L.Walker, or Forbes though! Because DeRozens contract is huge and AG still hold value.

I would do it. We desperately need a new look on this team. And someone you can give the ball to and go and get a bucket. Derozan can do that.

He does the one thing we need (can score in an iso) but he also sucks at our 2nd biggest need (shooting). Tough call

Then I don’t even wanna think about if they feel pressure to re-sign him. That deal is gonna look ugly whoever gives it to Derozan.

Derozan has become a solid playmaker the last few years.

He’s average 5,6, and 5 ast a game the last three years. Playmaking and Drawing free throws are equally important needs, to go along with shot making Which he can also do outside of 3 pointers.

He could potentially improve 2 1/2 out of 3 of our most important needs imo.

Wouldn’t be a no brainer for me but I’d take a close look at it.

If you're frustrated watching AG try to do too much, just wait for DeMar to show up and make you miss Aaron
