Best Downtown Bar to Watch a Game?

Post#1 » by jibba jones » Thu Nov 14, 2019 2:21 pm

Hi Guys, quick question(s).

Looking for something downtown - something that's not a chain - smaller, quiet dive bar would be great - but of course would have to have the Magic.

Best dive bar for a Magic gamer?
Best sports pub for a Magic game?

Any Orlando local suggestions?

thanks.....

1. Sportstown in the Milk District. Open late, cheap beer, and easy going bartenders and patrons. A little smokey. This is my favorite.
2. Copper Rocket. Local owners that renovated the place. Its in Maitland across from the Enzian. Great beer and food items. Lots of big new TVs.
3. Ollies on Edgewater. They also own Finn Henrys from what I understand. I'm honestly not sure if they play the games there but its a great place to check out with good food. Same goes for the Hideaway on Virgninia. Great food. Nice divey atmosphere and good drink and food prices.
4. Harry Buffalo off of Church st right in the heart of downtown near the Amway Center. A little to busy for my taste but probably a good place to catch any big sporting event. Food, beer, and liquor.
5. Crooked Can in Winter Garden. Haven't gone there in a while but they have a handful of TV's and good beer (brewery)
6. Falcon Bar. Really small cute place. Good beers. Only 2 TVs so its a gamble if they have the game on.
7. Graffiti Junction--it's a chain but a local one from what I understand. I've only been to the one Downtown but good food beer and liqour. Great place for big games.

That's all I got.

I always hear about Twin Peaks and Dave & Busters on international drive. If you're looking for a good chain Miller's Ale House or Gators Dockside.

Not sure those are the types of bars you're looking for.

There aren't many bars that will play the game with audio, and if they do you'll be battling the jukebox.

Sportstown is my spot, but Burton's, Lou's lounge, Hideaway, and Graffiti are all okay depending on day of the week.

I find odd that there are no true "Magic" bars in Orlando. Especially when the team isn't playing very well. If the team is playing great, then every bar is on the bandwagon.

I would recommend Sportstown if you don't mind a smoking establishment.

Downtown is pretty disappointing when it comes to wanting to watch Magic games (a lot the problem is on the franchise itself).

I'd say half the places have the game on always and half won't put it on unless you ask them too and even then they struggle figuring out what channel it's on.

The bigger/chain type ones you can do are Graffiti Junction or Harry Buffalo.
Wall Street gets busy on the weekends, but a few of those places usually always have at least one tv on the Magic game.
On Orange you've got Dapper Duck and Pourhouse right next to each other. If you're looking for more of a sit-down eat place with a bar and tvs, literally across the street there's Avenue and Underground.
The Basement is tiny if that's what you're going for. Mostly empty during the week, within it you an order tex-mex.

There are other places that are very different in atmosphere that may have it on (Saddle Up, Stagger Inn, The Woods, The Lodge, Olde 64), but those come to mind. And the majority of them won't play the game with audio (if that's something you need).

Twin Peaks is not that dissimilar to Ale House except you get much hotter women working there. As far as TV's go, Ale House and Twin Peaks are the place to go. As far as Dive bars, I have to go with Sportstown.
