Trade Deadline is coming...

2020 NBA Trade deadline is Feb 7th, right before NBA All Star Weekend.
Who is Magic going after? Are we a buyer or seller? Magic Front Office has been looking for offensive help for quite some time. Everyone knows we are almost at the last of every offensive category.
Orlando Magic Daily has posted an article today about trading away Aaron Gordons for some star help.
1. DeRozen
2. Jure Holiday
3. DAngelo Russell
4. CJ McCollum
Those are four potential targets for Magic
That is his opinion. But I think we have a chance to trade away Evan Fournier. He is having a career season and he is in his last year of contract except for his player option. He will get paid by someone and so I doubt he will return to Magic. Should we trade him and get some needed offensive help for the long term?

A few things to consider:
(1) there is very little money available around the NBA for free agency...less than a handful of teams have +16m in projected cap space. This has to do with nearly half of the NBA hitting free agency last summer which caused an unusual amount of brand new contracts, which dramatically reduced league wide available cap space. That was before the China incident which might drop that already low amount even lower.
(2) those handful of teams that do have cap space are either rebuilding or not in the market for a +$17m wing or both.
That means that unless there are trades that change the landscape, Fournier's choices will be less than ideal. While Fournier might be best wing on the market, his choices would be to go to rebuilding team or take less money than he's making now.
(3) If he opts out, his best chance of going to a better situation than what looks like less than ideal options will be a S&T...meaning the Magic can still get something for him even if he opts out
(4) The Magic have no realistic path to replacing Fournier's production anytime soon...so its their interest to retain him or get that production back in a trade.
There is trade buzz because teams would love to have an efficient shooter / secondary ball handler who just entered his prime. Especially one who is on an average NBA starter salary, and without long term commitment. If he wasn't on the Magic, I guarantee many Magic fans would be pointing to him as a target for the Magic.

I would be okay with 2-4 but that means we’ll likely trade for #1 and we’ll all be pissed.

To me, CJ is the guy we need to try to get. I’d be thrilled with Jrue, but with Fultz here and playing well I think straight up scoring is the thing we need most. That’s CJ. He, Vuc and Evan would be a great big 3 with Fultz and JI picking their spots. I’ve appreciated Gordon, I think he’s a good player, but this teams offense is deathly anemic. Unless Gordon turns into Giannis and starts putting up 25ppg tomorrow, he’s pretty much reached his offensive ceiling and we need more to win.

Even if we trade away Evan, im ready to move AG. This entire team needs a shakeup. He has been here for 6 years and is only incrementally better. As the article said, every year people talk about his "potential", and they will again next year, and the year after that

thing is Jrue scores too (both put up about 21 ppg last year). his 3 pt % a little lower than CJ, but his FG% is higher, passing much better, better defensively. Would give us a 2nd ball handler, you can never have enough of those. but i dont think New Orleans would be interested in AG. after 6 years, his star isnt as shiny as it once was. Portland could better use AG, but AG isnt enough to get CJ in my opinion

Would you give up Bamba for CJ or AG + Evan for CJ?
Why? Because CJ has a long contract years remaining

On talent alone AG doesn’t get you CJ but have you seen his contract? If I was Portland’s GM, I would love to get out of his contract for something like AG and some expiring contracts. Portland already has a star and should look into acquiring a bigger #2 option than CJ.

Russell only.
- CJ’s contract price/years at 29 isn’t ideal. They’d also want more.
-Jrue is a similar situation, but is less of a shooter.
-DeRozen would be a rental (1.5 years) for a non shooter 30yr old.
Basically, if they made a move for anyone other than Russell it’s pushing the chips in to win sooner than later. I still don’t believe this roster is realistically competitive with one of those guys being the only major move. Fultz and Russell would be a good young tandem moving forward into the future to build around. That being said, I’d sooner move AG for a two way SF with playmaking ability to play next to Isaac.

considering that CJ scores 21 next to a true superstar where Jrue has really had his own show in NOLA. Jrue is really good, but I think CJ has real star quality if he was the lead dog. I think he'd push 27ppg in the East in a Beal-like situation, but with a better, more complementary roster in ORL (than Beal has)...I'd give up AG and a FRP + happily to get a TRUE proven versatile scorer in CJ

and even being the 2nd fiddle, CJ actually takes more shots than Jrue.

Blow the entire thing sky high. Keep Isaac, Bamba and Fultz off the block and cry havoc. This franchise is desperate for a rebuild. Depending on what Chukekeke is, we could go into 2020 with a nice young core and a reason to be excited. What we have now is simply pointless.

I’d love CJ or Jrue here. Even Russell, as I think all help the Magic get over the offensive problems they’ve had. I think Gordon and another piece would probably get it done. Hopefully a draft pick.
I just hope we stay away from Derozan. Yes he can score but only moves our needle if we still kept Gordon with him honestly. I think he’s a rental. We don’t drop Gordon for that. I honestly still wish AG’s light bulb would turn on offensively and we start winning with him playing at his full potential. But we need guard help too much at this point.

So true. people want Tyus Jones and Josh Jackson but hey lets trade Fournier while he's having a career year. Standard logic around here.
After some time comparing all four guys, Jrue is a guy i'd target out of the four options. He's a more complete player with his scoring, passing and defense.
I no longer like Russel for this team. After watching him play and as the article points out the ball sticks WAY too much in his hands for a team whose success is predicated on ball movement. I think DeMar is a solid No from everyone.
I like CJ but I dont see the urgency from Portland to move him. The biggest issue is that Gordon doesn't have the value to get any of those guys so its almost certain that we'd have to include more than just AG.

CJ McCollum easily.
He would average 25-30ppg as the primary option here and if it cost us AG/Augustine/FRP (protected) then its a no brainer.
Then I would send Frazier + (2) SRP’s to Washington for Isiah Thomas and call it a successful deadline.
Fultz/Thomas/MCW
McCollum/Ross
Fournier/Iwundu
Isaac/Aminu
Vucevic/Bamba
