Founier all star ? lack of love even from Orlando or not ?
Orlando is a small market so "nobody" pays attention to them, but Vuc was all star last year with more or less the same record as the 2020 Magics and Fournier is by far the most consistent Magic this year :
Does he deserve an all star spot, or at least be mentionned ? I dont see lots of love from Magics fans towards him : why that ?

Because we are clueless and we prefer DeRozan or anyone else. Hell, Wayne Ellington can give us the same production at SG for 1 mil per year.

Being consistent is not a criteria for being an all star.
And no one will ever confuse Evan for an all star. He is a solid role player being forced to do more than his talents can because of our poorly constructed our roster is.
Orlando Magic are BACK!!!

Instead of saying some non sense reply, can you explain your thought ? what you dont like in his game ? why do you think he's overated ? and then we can start a debat (isnt it the goal of a forum ?)
Dont mention useless player like Ellington who's deeper than ever on the Knicks bench, please try to be more relevant. Thx in advance

He's having a great shooting year but I don't think anyone believes the Magic should have an all-star. Seemed like last season people were talking Vuc up for the game for a while leading up to it. No one saying a peep for Evan.

Evan is in that Nick Anderson/Hedo Turkoglu category.
Meaning he won't make the ASG, but he's one of the best of the rest.

People think that two good players in starting lineup should make us contenders, if they dont they just discredit them.
Evan Fournier is the most efficient guard in the east for players who attempt at least 10 field goals. He is doing it on a team without spacing. Furthermore he is one of the better defenders among considered players.

Magic fans, especially here on RealGM, love to hate on any player who doesn't play like an All-Star every game. And, if they are traded for a player fans truly want, after a few months they will turn like rabid dogs onto that new player for the same reasons. There is no love here except for rookies they put extremely high expectations on that they will never achieve. But, those young players will be praised like gods until after their 3rd or 4th seasons then they become hated players as well. There are low amounts of love here, just hate.
Regardless, will be hard to beat out Beal, Lavine, Kyrie or Jaylen

Re: Founier all star ? lack of love even from Orlando or not ?
Evan Fournier is having a good year for us, but two years ago his numbers were similar and he wasn’t an All Star or anywhere near the conversation. People see the spots in Fourniers game. He’s not the best team player offensively. To this day my biggest criticism of him hasn’t changed. He looks for “his” first. I will give him huge credit for at least looking more for driving to the basket first. He’s a better player when he isn’t settling for bad jumpers.
As for the Vuc argument last year, He was averaging like 22 and 12, shooting pretty close to a career high and was significantly better on D. Which lead the Magic to a much better record than in years past. Vuc was outplaying damn near everyone at his position not named Embiid last year. Not so for Evan. I can probably make an argument for 15 guards in the East being more deserving.

This depends entirely on results. I don’t remember people downing starting level players particularly during our contending days.
If The Magic are a **** team for 7 years, and people become critical of the stagnant roster, this shouldn’t really come as a surprise to anyone that the mainstays aren’t beloved.
Also, when was the last time Orlando traded for a player fans really “wanted”? Never?

It's not just Magic fans.
How come other GMs are not interested in him?

If he had these numbers on a 1st seed like Middleton does he'd get consideration. Of course he'd never have these numbers on a 1st seed because no team worth their salt would ever give him as much usage as he has here. He's not an all-star. I can only imagine how much dumber he'd start playing if he thought he was.
Besides, Vuc has better numbers than him now and he's a much better player than Evan.

He's also the efficient guard in the east with male pattern baldness.zaymon wrote:People think that two good players in starting lineup should make us contenders, if they dont they just discredit them.

We'll probably be the only playoff team without an all-star this season.

He wont. He is not putting up crazy numbers and not making headlines this year. Heck, Fultz comeback is getting more media attention even if Fournier has better numbers.
Also, more competition.

Step 1: Vuc and Fournier get force fed by Clifford.
Step 2: People overestimate their value.
Step 3: we think we should keep them, think they are stars.
Step 4: Our youth take a backseat to them both. Dont develop.
Step 5: return to step 1.
Around around and around we go.

You're right except people on this forum hate on the players themselves. Coach after coach that comes in here reach the same conclusion in regards to this roster. The players aren't to blame for the makeup of this roster, moves are not executed by the player. Fournier isn't an all star but is a solid player. Vuc is the best player on a bad team, not his fault. Fans here blame him for the franchises failures when really he is probably closer to being inducted to the Orlando Magic hall of fame than anything.

Re: Founier all star ? lack of love even from Orlando or not ?
Because NBA media outletes only cover big market teams and top tear draft picks and some superstars.
NBA fans also prefer voting for super young players ( Trae, Luka, Tatum, Brown...).
Established stars always get votes. Melo (700K ) and Rose ( 1,3M votes), Howard (670K)
And you simply have to deal with fact that Lakers, Celtics, Bulls have more fans around the globe than other teams.
That's why Caruso and Taco Fall have more votes than half of "stars".
Overall NBA allstar game is joke itself and really does not mean much.

The Magic is playing 4 on 5 on offense, meaning Fournier is even further burdened to carry the offensive load. He is playing very well.

I've never seen a fanbase being that unhappy about one of their team's players averaging 19 points on 60% TS%, it's hilarious.
