All Things Lakeland

Not sure who else is interested, but with Orlando being pretty Ho-Hum I've been following the team and couldn't find a dedicated Lakeland thread around here...

If you think the G-Leagues are a bunch of scrubs not worthy of your time, that's cool man, keep scrolling ;)

Anyway, It seems that our two way guys do pretty well in the G-League, though we haven't really had anyone break through as an NBA rotation guy last season or this one.

Lakeland have won 4 straight behind some good play from Orlando's fringe rotation guys, and are 7-3 in their last 10.

I won't be updating this OP after each game, but I will post notable occurances and updates in the thread.

I was a big fan of Will Conroy's game; noting he is now an Asst. coach at University of Washington. I think he has all chances to be a good basketball coach. Here is rooting for him in the next stage of his career!

RE: Andrew Rowsey... I love that kid! I worked with him when he was at UNC Asheville. It is great to see his personal success at Marquette after transferring and I love seeing him playing well down in Lakeland.

The kid can absolutely fill it up! One of the best shooters that I have had the chance to work with. I would love it if he ever got a shot, but I just don't see it based on his size and defensive abilities.

Agreed. I mean, right now we have;
1) A lack of healthy ballhandlers and guards
2) Some big guards to pair with him and
3) A terrible lack of scorers/shooters team wide

I doubt there would have been a better chance to geta callup than part of the season, but if it hasn't happened by the time DJ comes back I'd say its not happening, unfortunately for him.

I like his game, he is not only long and athletic, but he has some nice touch around the rim. With nba defenses packing the paint, its a useful weapon to have. 6'5 with 7'2 wingspan, athletic, nice touch, can shoot some threes, good passer, great defender........ is it too much too ask that he makes our rotation ?

Certainly would have liked to see him get more of a chance at the 3 when Isaac went down (with Gordon at 4) before they signed Clark and traded for Ennis...

BJ Johnson is leading the G-League in scoring, and Josh Magette is leading the G-League in assists.

Both have been named to the Eastern Conference Mid Season G-Leage Teams.

Both struggled to get anything more than mop up minutes here, but around the league we often hear about G-Leaguers who get a call up and make an impact.

Is it a matter of these guys getting cold feet on the big stage? Just not enough of an opportunity? Does Lakeland play a different system?

I really like Frazier and noticed they've been playing him nearly 40 mpg lately. I think he's going to breakout soon.
