I can't even remember what our record is this season. I just know it's a losing one.

The 30-35 Magic is 5 1/2 games up on the Wizards, meaning the magic number for Washington to slot 9 is 3 games. The Magic is only 1/2 game back of the 30-34 Nets, and both teams are likely to play twice in their respective 8-games, meaning that which ever team wins more games will avoid the double play-in slot for the #8 seed. Obviously if the Nets and Magic tie (for example by going 4-4 each), the Nets get the 7 seed by virtue of having played one less game. Fair? No. But Orlando can control its own destiny by winning two games over the Nets.

The West is a mess and Memphis is really taking a risk for its current 8-seed slot, given that this team is a full 3 games up on the Pelicans, Kings and Blazers, and 3 1/2 over the Spurs. Basically Memphis is playing 8 warm up games to prepare to play on of those four in the play-in tourney.

Interestingly for both East and the West, the top-6 teams have already qualified for the playoffs (that is, any of these 12 teams could go 0-8 and would still be a playoff team).
