Thank you guys

Post#1 » by Knightro » Thu May 21, 2020 6:47 pm

Hi everybody!

You folks may (or may not  ) have noticed that I haven't been around for a couple of months. Just thought it was time to give an update.

My father passed away completely unexpectedly exactly two months ago today in March. It was not COVID-19 related. He had sudden cardiac arrest. It was all the more perplexing and tough to swallow because my dad had no known heart problems.

I was unequivocally my father's biggest fan. He was my hero, my role model and the only person capable of working me into a shoot at the drop of a hat.

I’m doing a lot better now than I was a couple of months ago. The suddenness of it all was something that was very difficult to process. If there’s one thing I can take from this, it’s the fact that life is precious and not something to be taken for granted.

Wanted to offer up a heartfelt thank you to Howard and the rest of the mod staff for being so kind and patient while I was away. I really look forward to chopping it up with all you guys and gals again moving forward.

GO MAGIC!

Tragic to hear mate, that's a huge loss. Good to have you back around. Hopefully we have more to talk about now than pure speculation.

Preach, family.

Really sorry for your loss, Knightro. It's always tough to lose a parent, especially so unexpectedly. But, I admire your spirit. I'm glad to hear that you're doing better.

Sorry to hear this bud.

Yeah, this is tough brudda. Best wishes for comfort and peace to you and your family. Glad to hear that you're bouncing back. I know I don't post as often as I did back in the day, I still come and read like clockwork daily, so it's good to see you back.

Never knew my pops but I’d much rather have it that way than what happened to you. RIP. Hope it’s getting easier to cope with for you and the fam.

Man, that's horrible. The one thing I do wish you got was some closure, the ability to say goodbye, or the last time spent with him was a happy one. I hope there is nothing there that you regret and have to carry with you. Loss is hard, especially if it is as sudden as you say. Rather than say sorry, let me quote Tennyson. "Tis better to have loved and lost, than to have never loved at all". Meaning you are better for it, the pain you are receiving is because of that love. I hope one day soon the memory of your father will bring a smile to your face rather than a tear to your eye. Stay strong, and rely on family.

You know.. It's stories like this that open your eyes to true sadness. My wife and I are going through a rough time with our home buying experience for several reasons.. But reading your story, it really puts things into perspective. I am so sorry to hear about your father, I cannot imagine the pain you are going through. Sports was an outlet for me after losing my grandfather earlier in the year, and sadly that isn't an option at the moment. I hope you know, even though there is a screen between us, I truly care and wish you and your family the best.
