We Christians are not necessarily taught "not to kneel" to/for anyone but God/Jesus, we are taught not to give honor and reverence that is only due to God. So, yes, we wouldn't kneel to a man--or ideology--if that kneeling signify a reverence that we would only give God. But, we would most certainly bow to a royal or do the customary thing that would show respect to the position that one holds.

For example, in the Book of Daniel, chapter 3, In the scriptures, Daniel and his friends--didn't bow and worship the golden image because they do not serve anyone above God, the bow signify a reverence of something holy. In the book of Acts 10:25-26, Cornelius tried to kneel to the Apostle Peter and he said "Stand up; I too am a man". But we also have Romans 13:7 that says "Pay to all what is owed to them; taxes to whom taxes are owed, revenue to whom revenue is owed, respect to whom respect is owed, honor to whom honor is owed". Mark 12:17 "Jesus said to them 'Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's.' And they marveled at Him." So we separate. What belongs to God, belongs to God and what belongs to man, we give to man.

A lot of us Christians are rocked by this entire movement because we genuinely have an "All lives matter" mentality. This isn't the mentality so that we can stiffen the Black Lives Matter movement but because of two things: 1st) as Christians, our whole mentality is to love. The greatest commandment for us is to love God, and the second is to love thy neighbor like yourself, so it is love God, love yourself, love others (Matthew 22:36-40 Teacher, which is the great command in the the Law? And he said to him, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it; You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets. 2nd) Is because how much God love the world because He gave us His Son-- For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.--John 3:16 God loves you, therefore we are taught to do the same.

Also, when thinking about racism; the world's response will be community, love and law. We're going to see policies and laws change to show that BLM--we are not against that. But for us, this is fundamental and it goes beyond law. As Christians, we say that Jesus is the answer because He is love and He shows us how to love. And because love is action, that deep rooted love will be shown in our action to others even where the law does not go. For us, it is not merely trying to align with the what the law says, its genuinely loving our neighbor, honoring and respecting them in all aspects of our lives.

I want to say this because I think it's important. As a Christian, our standard is to love, honor and respect everyone. That is the expectation that God has for us. And it is hard. We don't always do it right. Many of us struggle with learning to love people the way that God wants us to. Our goal isn't to love the way the world thinks we should but to love people how God think they should be loved. And I am sorry when we fail to truly do that.

And I don't know why this matters but I feel like I have to say it--I am a Haitian immigrant who have strived to live as a Christian and not as a skin color and that was an organic process. I am just trying to navigate this whole landscape like everyone else. The way that Isaac went about it was neither wrong or right, it was a choice, that he felt he had to make that would be the most honorable to God. That's what we strive for.

I hope you find this is peace.

Go Magic!

I don't think Christians have a place to comment on "virtue signalling", since they've been doing it for 2020 years now. 'Prayer' and 'the love of god' could be considered just as empty as taking a knee to show your support of a matter.

Believe what you want to believe, work hard not pass judgement, and be kind to people of all walks. That's really the limit of most individuals ability to exact change in the world. I fail at 2 out of 3 of those on a daily basis, so I'm not high roading anyone.

Isaac is quite obviously a good guy who just wants to spread love. I admire that, and it will be a shame if that message is misinterpreted. But he's clearly got the strength to weather the storm, and he has my support on all fronts, even if I don't agree with the execution.

Isaac was already my favorite player before the game. He's even more so now though. Love JI and the fact he stood up for what he believed in.

He's also been a beast on the court for two straight games. He and Fultz will be a force next year, just watch.

I appreciate your comments on all of that. I didn't mean to besmirch Christians by any means (I grew up Baptist, after all), I was just suggesting that kneeling was for being in reverence of something and it was reserved for only the holy. While I have moved about as far away from Baptist as I think one could as far as my faith goes, I still have the respect for that community and have been shown nothing but kindness and love from the Christian community, even as someone who would be seen as an "enemy" by the most devout.

Given that Isaac has generated a basketball story for politics, my brief thoughts.

.
The most probable description of Jesus was investigated LINK

This is the resultant image:

Noting that Jesus was neither Gentile nor Aethiope (what today we call "white" or "black").

Jesus was a Jew and this is the average Jew of 2000 years ago:
Image

And therefore, this is probably what Jesus looked like.

At a basic level: Jesus was an "All lives Matter" profit. But in a way very differing from American politicians. As a Universal Socialist, Jesus therefore taught universal respect.

Jesus abhorred what we today call Capitalism.
Examples:
Luke 16:14-15: “The Pharisees, who loved money, heard all this and were sneering at Jesus. He said to them, “You are the ones who justify yourselves in the eyes of others, but God knows your hearts. What people value highly is detestable in God’s sight.”

First Timothy 6:10: “For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.”

Indeed:
Proverbs 30:8 instructs us not to seek poverty or riches. “Keep falsehood and lies far from me; give me neither poverty nor riches, but give me only my daily bread.”

Would Jesus support the "Black Lives Matter Movement"? Of course yes. The Gospels are all about public opposition to a ruling oligarchy. Non-violent, illegal and peaceful protest. That was the life of Christ. And his result was to be martyred, not unlike the outcome of MLK Jr.'s Non-violent, illegal and peaceful protests for civil rights in general and black rights in particular.

My personal view of BLM. I can support research for pancreatic cancer and not think that research for breast cancer is "not important". Therefore ones support for an anti-pancreatic cancer does not deflect that other anti-cancer charities are "irrelevant". In this same way, BLM vs. ALM is a distraction. Of course all lives matter. But to support BLM does not mean such supporters do not also hold that ALM.

So: I am White Anglo Saxon Protestant Male Affluent and a citizen of America. I literally won the postcode lottery of life, and I strongly believe that Black Lives Matter.

In conclusion: if Isaac stood in white to make the BLM movement more meaningful, then great. If not, then he and I have a differing interpretation of The Gospels.

Clark went minus-17 in only 6 minutes played for his plus/minus line. How is that even possible?

I know the Nets went on a 16-0 run. Part of it was that MCW fouled out and they brought in DJ who looked like he already mentally checked out. DJ didn't think he'd be back in the game.

To me, it's crazy how the national anthem gets played before every game. We don't do it before Premier League matches, we only have the national anthem for international matches.

I support and admire Isaac as well as those who kneel. I didn’t get to see the game as I had a meeting in S FL yesterday. I’m very politically and socially conscious and spend a lot of my time and energy on those things. I really hope I can get back to enjoying Bball opinions, debates, game info, etc here again soon...it’s kind of an escape for me. Just my “vote” but maybe the political, social, religious stances of the players warrants a unique (optional) thread. It’s a huge deal worthy of much discussion and I salute them all, particularly Kap, but sometimes I just want to see how Bamba was moving and if people thought Fultz was aggressive enough, etc

Peace.

Btw, thank you for the police sketch artist rendition of Jesus.

The air-conditioning must have had a much higher than Amway temperature. The players were all dripping wet.

This could be a news story if a slip injury results from sweat over the floors.

Bamba did not show the kind of effort and energy we're looking for, but he also wasn't getting the ball on any of his roles or when he had a mismatch in the paint. Its an odd situation that could create a negative feedback loop.

Fultz was getting to the paint, but still not great at drawing contact. He should have hunted for his shot more since he was playing with the second unit instead of Vuc and Fournier, but that's just my opinion. There's no spacing on that second unit without Bamba and shots that Vuc and Fournier would take (and make) were simply passed up.

Orlando did not score in the final 6:59. The team's "invincible" lead occurred at the 8:43 mark when the Magic hit a score above the Nets resultant 118.

Really weird.
