Theo Maledon genuinely is below average guard imo. I could find 5 guards in Europe today better than him, younger than 24.

I like Tyrese Haliburton but i don't belive in his ballhandling potential, at least not as 1# option there ,he is two-guard and catch&shoot guy. His frame isn't great, maybe he can improve and upgrade his body...

Cole Anthony does nothing for me. Every time i watched anything about him all i could see is unathletic Mudiay.

If Nesmith lasted longer we would have way more objective picture about him. 14 games sample size is as limited as it gets.

It's no brainer that Magic need to draft guard ( PG or SG) but as usual i expect them to take some wingspan tweener

So who are you leaning towards? From what I infer from your posts, he should be already producing (not a fantasy upside guy), should be a PG/SG or SF, should have what projects to above average 3pt shot, a good handle and shouldn't be old for a draftee (over 21.5?) Do I have that more or less right?

Ok, so who have you got that fits your criteria? Seems like Ball, Hali, Anthony, Hayes, S Bey, T Bey, Okoro, Maledon, Toppin, Flynn, Maxey, Avdija, Green, Bane, Winston, Hughes, Riller, Howard, Alexander, Nwora among others would be ruled out...

Edwards, P Williams (tho you could argue he lacks production and is an upside pick), Vassell, Nesmith, Ramsey, Dotson, Terry, Stanley, Tre Jones... Those are prob your options...

Are you trying to get him to endorse someone? Not really his specialty :P

Depending where we pick ( and if we move up or stay put ) Ball, Avdija, Haliburton, Terry or Vassell.
Vassell is probably what Weltman and Hammond want, lenghty guard who can switch on defense and defend multiple positions. But if Magic don't move up a lot, he simply won't be there.

IF they draft another SF-PF who can't really shoot my brain will die.

Magic played 19 players this year, 17 did not reach league's average 3%

Vuc, Gordon; isaac, Bamba all can in theory make wide open shots ,but in reality don't make them at high enough clip to make it sustainable. Also if you watch playoffs, players simply have to be able to make semi open or even contested shots at respectful rate

What's worst is that most of them are not even good catch&shoot guys. Other than Evan and Ross and sometimes DJ, nobody can curl off screen and shoot.

Aaron Nesmith is growing on me as the player to spend a year under Fournier to be Fultz' wing-man of the future.

Well non of them has strictily be shooter only. Avidija is almost 6'9, 210 pounds already, Melo is 6'8.
Their ballhandling for that size is impressive. Melo is projected to be point guard, standing at 6'8, it's no secret it's huge adventage to have athletic, really tall PG with pretty good floor vision and knows how to dishes ball on time ( also moves ball in general ).

Also both players have supreme confidence ( and marketable swagger).

There is also something to be said about Avidija's father, who was also proffesional basketball player and member one of the strongest national teams in 80s, Yugoslavia.

About shooting in particular, there is nothing really broken or wrong with Deni's jumpshot form, he just needs repetation and be more of catch&shoot and less off dribble shooter.
Melo needs some rework.

There is also safe floor for both. Lamelo in apsolute worst will be like Tomas Satoransky. Tall PG who moves ball. ( Lamelo is way more athletic)

Floor for Deni is more athletic Saric/Thad Young. Can pass, will compete, will make wide open jumpers.

My biggest fear about Ball has nothing to do with basketball, it's his maturity and irrational upbringing from delusional ( yet somewhat brilliant) father who will bring drama and whisper BS in his ear off court. But hey, nobody is perfect.

Avdija shot 33.3% from 3 pt,. 277 is only in the Euro league.
Also his form looks good and he takes contested and off the dribble threes, I don't think he will be a liability as a floor spacer but he might not become an above average shooter early in his career if ever.

to me, we really need scorers on this team and not necessarily shooters. we really need someone who has the ability to create. especially with how wide open the offences are ran nowadays.

I actually agree, but the excess of below-average shooters on the Magic has seemingly been a bugbear of Pepe's for a long time. I find it hard to imagine him enjoying watching Ball doing a Fultz.

But I don't really see Ball or Avdija being shot creators of any great renown. Playmakers, sure.

I think pepe would have mental breakdown after watching Ball play for us. Gordons fade- aways look like Moreyball next to Lamelo shot selection ( and accuracy)
Bold Predictions:
1. Deandre Ayton biggest disappointment of 2018 draft.
2. Nick Nurse becomes Orlando Magic Head Coach. (15.04.2018)

100% agree. We have always had shooters. Not great, but enough. We never have someone that you can say go get us a point right now and you know they'll get it. Someone that can draw fouls and get us guaranteed points.

And as much as people hate it, we need someone who can create iso situations too. AG tries to do it but isn't good enough, we just need someone that can score in all facets.
