Here is the biggest problem the Magic have imo. Scoring efficiently; part of that involves getting to the line, part of it is playmaking and getting easy looks, part of it is bad shooting (including 3pt%).
Putrid. Our defense is the only reason we made the playoffs, that and how awful the bottom of the East was last year.
Here are the TS% rankings from last year:
1 Miami Heat 58.7
2 Utah Jazz 58.5
3 Milwaukee Bucks 58.3
4 Dallas Mavericks 58.1
5 Houston Rockets 57.8
6 LA Clippers 57.7
7 Phoenix Suns 57.6
8 Toronto Raptors 57.4
9 Los Angeles Lakers 57.3
10 Oklahoma City Thunder 57.3
11 San Antonio Spurs 57.2
12 Boston Celtics 57
13 Portland Trail Blazers 57
14 New Orleans Pelicans 56.8
15 Denver Nuggets 56.7
16 Philadelphia 76ers 56.6
17 Sacramento Kings 56.6
18 Indiana Pacers 56.5
19 Washington Wizards 56.2
20 Detroit Pistons. 56.1
21 Memphis Grizzlies 56.1
22 Atlanta Hawks. 55.4
23 Brooklyn Nets. 55.4
24 Cleveland Cavaliers 55.3
25 Minnesota Timberwolves 55.1
26 Chicago Bulls. 54.7
27 Orlando Magic. 54.4
28 Golden State Warriors 54
29 Charlotte Hornets 53.9
30 New York Knicks 53.1

Yah, basically everybody outside of Fournier was disappointing.
Aminu .395. That is unplayable.
Fultz and Gordon abysmal, probably because of mid range jumpers.
Bamba shot threes well for a big, but terrible inside the paint for a 7 footer, needs to roll and finish more.
Vuc not effecient enough for a big, he does take a lot of shots, we'd probably be better if he didn't have to.
Ross takes too many tough 3's. we probably ask him to. I saw something recently in number of 3's taken highly contested shots/very contested (0-3 ft open) he was by far the leader last year.

This team sucks at shooting??? Naaaaaaaaaahhhh.
Can't be. Weltman likes this team and our roster spots are too valuable to seek possible upgrades. If we can maintain status quo that would be ideal.

One problem for me is that essentially no Magician can force a foul. That has been a problem since Howard left.

I agree, seems like a lot of the outside guys shy away from contact, and Vuc and Bamba are not great at getting all the way to the basket, where a foul is more likely to occur.
We ranked 20th in free throw attempts, I would have suspected lower. Fultz has plenty of room to improve, and I think he will in this area. Anthony should get to the line a lot once he gets minutes.

We all talk about shooting as a necessity. But we have shooters. This ^^^ is something we haven’t had since the Dwight days.

Luckily we brought in Dwayne Bacon (.41 TS%) and drafted Cole Anthony (.50 TS%) to help with that problem.

Who said our roster doesn’t fit?

Maybe this is the continuity management is looking for. Continuing to bring on all-world inefficiency, at least in Bacon's case.

Orlando would need to be the #11 seed to miss the play-in games. That's something like a 25-47 record. Only the most anti-Homer would predict that kind of a record.

all the win shares I have seen so far have been from 31-32.5

I would project a 32-40 team will be on the cusp between the #8 and #9 seed . Given how critical it will be to be a 7/8 over a 9/10, there is "a lot to play for" to get a more certain #8 seed. I would think a 35-37 record makes it certain.
Thirty-Five wins. A target !

That is the problem. Management thinks a sub .500 outcome is more important than acquiring talent. We could have moved some wins last week. We still could I guess, but it wouldn’t be as easy. What we are unable to do is add wins.
We need talent.
