ORLANDO -- Orlando Magic forward Al-Farouq Aminu underwent a minor arthroscopic procedure to address continued swelling in his right knee, President of Basketball Operations Jeff Weltman announced today. The procedure went as planned and will allow Aminu to complete his final phase of rehabilitation.
Aminu’s return to the court will depend on how he responds to treatment and rehabilitation. He missed 55 games last season after originally suffering the injury on November 29, 2019 vs. Toronto. Aminu underwent surgery on January 7.

It sounds like the issue wasn't fixed with the first surgery. I always found it curious that they label a surgery a success immediately after the procedure is completed. That must be doctor speak for, "At least we didn't kill the patient. Let's see what happens from here."
I don't know where the blame goes, but this situation has been botched.

The Magic medical team has taken as many L's as the team over the last year.

Yeah, usually a meniscus is 4 weeks and it's already been a year.

It's kind of embarrassing at this point. I mean it's beginning to rival how poorly they've drafted/constructed this roster which is a major problem.
This front office is just flat out incompetent at every level.

... Is there even point of talking about it ? Major L, for medical stuff, front office and Weltman himself and his" i'm smarter than you and i'll say nothing whole interview" ego.

So many weird decisions.....surgery....no surgery....all the silence for what? only for the news to be worse than we think....i have half a mind to think they took all this time saying nothing because they we're trying to figure out how to spin this to the media/fans....now this drops and turns out to be another wasted signing....i mean how many times can you say it's just bad luck? this is happening too often for that....there is something wrong in the decision making process

Not having him on court is perfectly fine with me. More time for Chuma!

but one player less to trade to contender for pick... He could have been guy that brings value as trade asset. But nop, sinking ship.

This is the silver lining if there is one.
It's also stuff like this where it makes you lose trust in what the team says in these interviews. Weltman and Clifford both were sitting on this information about Aminu's knee and were being vague about it the whole time only for us to find out he had a setback. Why not just be upfront about it? And I don't doubt that Bamba is doing his best to get back on the floor. But I wish there was more of an explanation than simply "still struggling with post-COVID syndrome." After 6 months, I'd like to know more. What is he feeling? How are we approaching this? How are we certain that it's a lasting effect of COVID? Maybe that's just me though. I hear stuff like that and it just raises more questions in my head.
