Roster sits at 15 guaranteed contracts + 2 two-way contracts.
The Magic can sign or acquire a 16th player making up to $3.68M using the DPE they just acquired from Jonathan Isaac's season-ending injury.

If there is an injury such that the Magic uses this DPE, I would expect it to be part of a trade that releases some Magic salary.
Example, Birch and the DPE for a ~6M player. Orlando would just stay under the tax from that and the other team saves payroll.
p.s. lets hope this DPE is never used as that means no Magician was injured.

I watched a bunch of Detroit games to try and catch Colin Castleton (who transferred to Florida this year) playing. So I saw a good bit of Teske. He's a decent player and if he works on his game some more, he will play for someone in the NBA eventually.
I was surprised (but happy) to see him playing in a Magic uniform.
I had no idea we had signed him until he suddenly got on the court in the middle of the game.

Pretty sure DPE's can't be combined. Also a reminder that you can only use a DPE to sign a player for one (this) season, or take on a player in the final year of his contract.

All Exhibit 10's.
Hopefully, they will do well in Lakeland.

Yes and no. Strictly you are correct. But "linked" trades are allowed. That is trade-1 happens only if trade-2 happens. That is: inseparable trades.
In this way, Orlando could trade Aminu for a 2nd-round pick top-50 protected. Or one of those sorts of ridiculous trades that has happened from time to time. And then have another trade of the DPE for Mr. 6M-dollar-man.
Both trades financially do need to stand on their own though. (That is the moneys in the deal cannot be considered collectively).
"...
or take on a player in the final year of his contract ..." In this way said player is not only a short-term asset, they are also an expiring contract for next season's FA market.

The bolded (second) trade does not work though, we can't absorb 6million in salary while trading the DPE as we are over the cap. I believe the max would be the DPE value plus 100k, so theres no way we can trade away "Player A" and then trade the DPE for a player with salary matching DPE plus Player A.

All 3 should end up in Lakeland barring a surprise. I want to see more of Cannady, he's got some Seth Curry in him (and we know what happened when we let Curry go).
