JJ Barea anyone?

Post#1 » by mrtcsm » Thu Jan 7, 2021 10:16 pm

With Fultz out of the picture, will the Magic be interested in adding depth to the PG position?

I think my guy JJ would be a good help. He could either start and allow Cole to continue coming of the bench, or he could run the second unit. Think the guy still have good basketball left in him. He has proven to be a good PnR guy, can get to the paint and put points on the board when needed. He is not the one to create his own shot at will but is very good at running the offense and finding the open guy.

What you think?

What other FA PG comes to mind?

When I was looking at PG contracts that would fit into the DPE exception he was one name I looked at... Dallas waiving him means we wouldn't have to give up an asset... But who do we cut to make a roster spot? Bone? I'd like to keep him, and we can't stash him at Lakeland at the moment.

No. He looked really old after his Achilles injury.

No to JJ

But i could see our FO going after Devonte graham in a trade.
They supposedly made him a promise in the 2nd round of the draft and he was picked 1 pick ahead of us, and now with such a big need at PG, i could see it
And the hornets dont NEED him with ball, rozier and riller all there, along with monk

Unfortuantely it wouldnt be an easy trade to arrange, and they would likely want a lot in return

You really thought so? I don't think that was the case.

His per 36min for the first 21 games last season after the ACL surgery were 20.2pts/8.7asts/4.8rebs on 43.9%fg and 41.7%3pt. Those are decent numbers to me.

If he was any good, Dallas would've gave him another contract. We aren't going to sign him. His career is over.

Rafer Alston or Carlos Arroyo, those would be my options.

For backup PG we have Jordan Bone who looked really good last game so mine as well give him more of an opportunity, and also MCW who is better to have playing PG than standing around taking open 3s. We do not need an old and very small PG.

The Magic should just sign Lin and tank.

At least we’ll be tanking and still making money from viewers in China. Satisfies business aspect and basketball aspect.

Short of a trade, I think this is the list of availables: Isaiah Thomas, Shabazz Napier, Jeremy Lin, Emmanuel Mudiay, Yogi Ferrell, and Brandon Knight, or just promote Jordan Bone.

I guess it will be Bone, but I think most of us would be ok with Napier or Knight.
