poll: what PG should the Magic target for this year?

Consider this:
3 free agent point guards the Orlando Magic can target in 2021

OMD link: The Orlando Magic have been thin at point guard

The names are, not surprisingly, Thomas, Mudiay, and Napier; these are the names floated the day Fultz blew his knee.

So to the poll; which PG should the Magic tab to close out this season?

Anthony starting, MCW as a backup and Bone as third string. We are thin everywhere so signing pg would resulted in cuting
bacon or Clark who started for us in stretches.

Which of them LEAST suck?

Why isn't Lin there? Somebody pick him up yet?

We don't MCW is coming back and he can platoon the position with Bone and Cole as the starter.

None.

Anthony starts the rest of the season at PG and MCW slides into a backup PG role when healthy.

MCW was questionable for the last couple games....that means he's close

If they still think about Playoffs it should be trading for Rose.
That would be kind of Rafer Alston level to replace injured Jameer type of move in my book.

Don’t sign anyone. Keep spacing MCW out and giving Bacon the ball at the top of the key. We need a top 5 pick more than ever.

Ball being available is interesting...I wouldn't do anything just for short-term band-aids at PG. We really don't know what's up with Markelle's recovery...I'm rooting for him, but I'm not betting everything on him. Perhaps a bigger deal with NOLA for Ball and NAW, sets us up with a long-term backcourt of Fultz, Ball, NAW, Cole? Maybe JJ can be mixed in too, if he'd be willing to re-sign at a fair rate.

Elfrid.
Ok stop laughing.
Here's the trade-elfrid for aminu. Maybe cash and second round pick or 2.
Elf and the majority of our starters are already familiar with each other. Elf and vooch pnr with Evan and gordon on the wings should be more successful now than a few years ago. Vooch didn't step out and take 3s back then nevermind make them at close to 40%. Evan wasn't as consistent as he is now and gordon is a better decision maker and has been hitting 3s lately too. And we didn't have ross then either.
Elfrid is on a expiring contract. If we can get rid of aminus 10 million next year is it worth it?

I also think Payton would be a nice pickup for the Magic. If he could be had for Aminu and a second, the Magic need to activate that trade. Ennis - or a similar contract - balances the salary line.

For the Knicks, that team has too many PGs and Payton can easily be replaced within their current rotation. Aminu is a huge upgrade over Noel and this makes a lot of sense depth-wise.

For the Magic, having Anthony off of the bench will lead to wins. He is not ready for prime-time.

Payton might not even be upgrade over Cole .

12 ppg, 3,8 apg, 47,9% TS

He is as bad as he ever was. Guy has one of lowest per 48min win shares among starters.

OMD is just speculation. The list has no source inside the management.

I hope MCW can fill the backup PG role. Right now, I am fine with Cole

It does look like the Magic will ride out Anthony/Carter-Williams/Bone as the depth chart.

That means the answer on the poll would be "promote Bone". He needs to be seriously considered for a vet-min deal for the year, to remove him from his 2-way contract limitations.

The question is if Payton is an upgrade over Bone. And/or we stop considering Carter0Williams on the PG depth chart (as the Magic need SF depth).

If the PG chart is: Anthony/Payton/Bone that keeps Gordon from being the primary back-up ball handler, as he has been these last yen games.

Part of my thought process is about the magic trying to build a winning culture. We started out strong in the first few games. In that beginning stretch the bench was doing a great job. Cole was leading that second group. Ok ok Ross was shooting incredible during that stretch but the second unit was huge. We won a few games and looked very good on the court. That's huge for coles confidence. A great way to learn the hardest job in the league. For me it makes sense with the shortened season more back to backs and no practice time to bring back elfrid. I think it would be an easy transition because he has played with 3 of the other 4 starters already. It's the only realistic target I see to put the second unit back together and possibly improve the starting unit. I don't see bone as doing anything other than making a shot here and there. As for mcw I don't know. Maybe the plan is to wait for him to come back to run the point in some way. Love the player and his hustle but I feel like he's our jack of all trades that can fill so many positions when needed throughout the year. Not sure how I feel about him on the floor with ag handling the ball for the second unit though. Guess we wait and see!

We drafted Cole. We made our choice.

Nobody wants Bone to move to a full contract as the full0-time 3rd stringer? I find that odd.
