Under the Radar Young Talent Trades

As we know in the NBA, there’s a number of young talent in the NBA who aren’t put in circumstances where they can demonstrate the full extent of their abilities.

The trade we made for Tobias Harris for JJ Redick, and the trade we made for Fournier for Afflalo are some good examples.

Another which spurred me to make this topic and a player I think we should’ve looked into acquiring more is Kevin Porter Jr who only took a 2nd rounder.

Who are some young players that yall would like the Magic to target that are flying under the radar?

This is my favorite concept for AG and Evan trades (I’d also consider TRoss and Bamba here)...stockpile young wings who haven’t busted out yet due to circumstances, team situation, and opportunities. Get 4 and if two work out- success...I imagine some are looking at Bamba the same way. Or, at a higher price, maybe guys like Gary Trent, Norm Powell, or Josh Hart who MIGHT blossom in bigger roles.

NAW, Nesmith, Langford, Simons, Chamet, Culver, McDaniels, Hampton, Huerter, Maxey (if PHI all in for ring NOW)

Maybe DAL would move their 3 rookies rather than wait & Develop...Terry, Josh Green, Tyler Bey...how good would Evan look playing off of Luka?

I made a thread with all wings available, young and old, and there is one glaring conclusion- its a desert. Most if not all of them available are below reserve quality.

I see this trade season and offseason as a “moneyball” situation, looking for undervalued missing pieces that fit really well and complement one another and our existing young guys with upside...and then swing for a home run with a high pick.

Gordon is simply better than Nesmith and/or Langford (and may always be)- but he’s not what we need. I’m ok with “losing” trades that make us a better team long term.

KPJ is probably the 3rd best player on this roster right now. I realize there is a lot of baggage, but as awful as this Magic team is, there was no reason we couldn't beat that Houston offer. Another questionable move by management, and this intangible BS that they peddle.

We need shooting. If we move fournier or AG that should be the skill we look for. We know when Fultz and JI return it will fit with thier games as well as our rookie.

WeHam likes high character guys. You can hear that in like every interview they are in.

I like watching good basketball players, and good basketball in general, both of which this team sorely lacks.

One reason to have high character guys is so that they can be good influences on young players.

That's what some teams are doing, just accumulating wings and hope that some pan out, since playmaking wings are the most valuable commodity in this league.

Fournier for Terry and James Johnson. Every single time. Actually for any of those 3 guys, and I like Green the best, and Bey has looked better than expected in Gleague. Another head scratcher on how Dallas managed to make 3 draft picks in last year's draft and we figured we could only roster 1.

Yeah I would be happy with a couple of under the radar prospects such as Tyler Bey or Paul Reed (I know they’re not shooter) for Evan. I don’t think we’re gonna get much for him so any young prospect should do. Dream would be a Hampton/Maxey or Terry.

Yep. It’s bloody staggering isn’t it. We could have THT and given up a top 55 protected pick for KPJ, instead we watch MCW, Bacon and Clark jack up brick after brick lol

NAW just seems to be in the doghouse. as long as the price isnt too high, i'd like to grab him

Young wing prospects and playmakers buried on other teams benches should be their primary goal. Anything to get away from the Clarks, Ennis’, and Bacons of the league.

I have a hard time believing AG and/or Fournier wouldn’t return those kinds of players.

If the Magic trade Aaron Gordon to the Wolves, I’d insist on getting Jaylen Nowell back.

Quietly (because Minnesota has been so bad) he’s averaging 20.6 points per 36 minutes while shooting almost 40% from three.

He is the closest thing I can find to a possibly available wing that seems primed to really flourish with a bigger opportunity.

Wasnt there news that they want Collins badly? The question is, if they want a player type like Collins next to KAT ( for whatever reason  ) or if Gordon is the next on there list. But in this case, its probably more a trade for the offseason.

Yeah I think AG helps them more than Collins.

AG for Culver, McDaniels, Nowell...that's THREE shots at special from one team who really isn't counting on them (yet). I think Culver can pretty much replace AG's contribution (in a slightly smaller package) and MIGHT have more offensive upside. If One of them work out, it's a win. If two work out...outstanding. Three?
