Denton's information in that article is simply incorrect.

Jonathan Isaac's wingspan is not 7'6".

does the league still do the measurements before every season? Im curious as to JIs real amd current wingspan. I cant believe Iwunda has a longer wingspan at 7'2 than JI lol

yeah.. i read quite a lot in that article until they mentioned Isaac 7'6 wingspan and Bambas 7'10 wingspan.

I guess its natural he grew. ay that time of the article he was 6'11 222lbs as well.

seriously though, a lot of pics showed he is taller than Vucs 7ft height. but he keeps saying he doesnt want to be called a 7footer(lol)
I think Vuc measured 6'10 and Isaac 6'11" last year w/o shoes, when the NBA did the official measurements.

Yes it is. You can see his progression in size. He was 6'10" in shoes, so probably less than 6'9" w/o shoes and steadily grew. The NBA officially measured him at 6'11" w/o shoes last season. So with shoes he's 7' with a 7'6" wingspan.

Do you really think he grew 2-2.5" and didn't get wider?

Isaac's wingspan was measured at 7'1" in April of 2016 at the Nike Hoop Summit when he was 18 years old. Do you really think he added 5 more inches of wingspan over the next 2 years while only allegedly adding one inch of height? C'mon now.

I wouldn't read too much into the whole "the NBA now measures barefoot!" thing either because not every team actually did it and reported it accurately.

I think Isaac is 6'11 and his wingspan is maybe 7'2" or a tiny shade over it. It's not 7'6".

He measured 6'10" with shoes at the Nike Hoop Summit and had a 7'1.25" wingspan, so he grew another 2-2.5" since then and added 4.75" on his wingspan.

Unless you the Denton is lying and he grew 2 inches in height but didn't get any wider than 7'1.25".

All we have to do is match up the timeline.

According to the article you shared, Isaac was 6'10 1/2 in shoes at the Nike Hoop Summit in April 2016 and the same 6'10" 1/2 in shoes in June 2017. So he didn't get taller in that 14 month period.

Then Denton wrote another article at the summer league in July of 2018 saying Isaac was now 6'11". But this was before the NBA was doing barefoot measurements which didn't come until October of 2019, so Denton saying Isaac was 6'11" would have been an in shoes measurement.

So that means between April of 2016 and July of 2018 Isaac grew 1/2 inch.

Yet in that same time frame John Denton is suggesting Isaac also gained 4.75 inches in wingspan to go from 7'1" 1/4th in April of 2016 to 7'6" in July of 2018?

I'm not saying that's impossible, but it just doesn't seem terribly likely.

Based on the two articles that John Denton wrote for the Orlando Magic official website in 2017 and 2018, Isaac grew 0.5 inches in height from 6'10" 1/2 in shoes in April 2016 to 6'11" in shoes in July of 2018, but at the same time he gained 4.75" (not 3.75") on his wingspan from 7'1" 1/4th to 7'6".

Denton directly said Isaac's wingspan was 7'6" in July 2018 when he would have only been 6'10" or so barefoot at the time based on his 6'11" measurement in shoes.

I typically just for simplicity sake put +1 inch when factoring in shoes.

You really buying that?

In that article it says he's 6'11" with a 7'6" wingspan, since then we know they officially measured his height at 6'11". I personally don't think he'd lie about the wingspan either.

I edited it to 4.75.

Also it isn't possible for someone to grow 2-2.5" and only add .75 in width.

I don't think Denton was intentionally lying or anything like that. I just think he had incorrect information.

Hell at the bottom of every one of his articles, there was the following disclaimer.

Note: The contents of this page have not been reviewed or endorsed by the Orlando Magic. All opinions expressed by John Denton are solely his own and do not reflect the opinions of the Orlando Magic or their Basketball Operations staff, partners or sponsors.

It stands to reason that Isaac's 6'11" height Denton cited in July of 2018 would have been in shoes, right? No one was measuring barefoot at that time.

So if Isaac was only 0.5 inches taller than he was in June of 2017 and April of 2016, when he twice measured at 6'10" 1/2 in shoes, I just don't buy that he added 4.75" in wingspan during that time frame.

Maybe he did and I'm the idiot arguing needlessly. It just seems really unlikely to me.

What Isaac's height and wingspan are today is not really relevant to the discussion because Denton was outright saying his wingspan was already massively bigger way back in the summer of 2018.

According to John Denton...

2016: 6'10" 1/2 in shoes, 7'1" 1/4 wingspan
2017: 6'10 1/2 in shoes, 7'2" wingspan
2018: 6'11" in shoes, 7'6" wingspan

Do you see what I'm getting at? Denton said Isaac gained 4.75 inches of wingspan in two years time while only getting half an inch taller.

2019: 6'11" barefoot (which with the way the NBA rounds heights up and down could be as low as 6'10" 1/2 barefoot or as high as 6'11" 1/4 barefoot)

If Isaac was 6'10" 1/2 barefoot, which would be rounded up to 6'11", then he'd be 6'11" 1/2 in shoes approximately, so only 1 inch taller than he was in 2016.

Last year they showed the list of official measurements of all our players barefoot. Isaac was 7'10 3/4 / Vuc was a bit smaller (7'10 1/4) & Bamba a bit over 6'11 barefoot. They had the exact heights without rounding up. So Isaac in shoes is pretty much 7'ft. Wingspan yeah, probably 7'2 -3 now not 7'6

They had those lists for a lot of teams. Was surprised Embiid was under 7'ft barefoot (i think was 6'11 3/4), he always looked same height as Gobert to me, but Gobert was a real 7 footer.

edit: Plus i highly doubt any Highschool / College measurements. They exaggerate the heights even more than the NBA teams

Going into rabbithole with BB rob about wingspan

It's a dark alley
Since to him wingspan means talent, Bamba is goat so don't bother. Bamba, according to him, just needs more touches and he will start averaging 28 ppg , 20 rebounds and 15 blocks, future DPOY, MVP, MIP, ROY.

As far as serious, high quality posting goes, you don't even have to look around. Just look at pictures of Isaac and you will figure his hands lenght isn't anything out of this world like Bamba or Gobert

Prediction day after Vuc, Gordon, Evan departure - most fans who are celebrating birth of new rebuild will be crying how rebuild is painful before 2022-23 season ends.

Measruments matter before draft to figure what position player should be playing, but they make no difference whatsoever if you know how good or bad player is, therfore talking about Isaac's wingspan as he is entering half of a decade in nba is simply complete waste of time . Just like talking about Bamba's wingspan will help make case for him being good defender ,as he did nothing with it for 3 years.

Only measurments that matter for Orlando now are measurments of Green, Kuminga , Michell & Keon Johnson.
As i've said before, Kuminga's measurments will have biggest impact on his stock. I highly doubt he goes inside top 4 if he is 6'6 (as G league listed him earlier this year )

wingspan height and weight.

but look at that pic. JI is at least 7 foot if you measure him up against Vuc no matter what angle you take.
