Orlando Magic Trade Thread?
If Ben Simmons can not win a Championship in Philly, why do we expect him to do so in Orlando?
Several things:
a. I think Philly didn't use Ben right. Ben can be a very good 1 on 1 player and that is who he was in College. He is not just an offensive rebounder or screener.
b. Ben is 2nd in voting in DPOY.
c. Ben is an All Star
d. Ben can play 1 thru 5 and he is a good ball handler
What would it take to trade for Ben?
Other things:
Only 1 day to go! I am excited.

No thanks. We do not need another player who can't shoot.

I think Philly is done with him and just to dump him. We can ROB Philly, if the asking price is right. Don't forget we still have the 17M TPE plus we have expiring contract in Gary Harris.
Ben's Problem is more of a Psychological issue rathr than ability. Remember Fultz? When we got him, he could do nothing in the NBA.
Ben has talent and upside. If we can get him with a cheap price, why not?
Well, his only issue would be his ridiculous contract

Depends on the cost. Some of these non-shooters can be moved away

The main issue is his contract. The difference with Fultz was he was still on his rookie contract and was worth the gamble. Simmons is on a max contract and could really destroy the team cap wise if he stays the same player.

This team already has too many liabilities shooting the ball. I don't think I could see a justifiable move at this point with how big the contract is.
The front office needs to stick to a plan. Don't get distracted by a player like this possibly being available and undercut the work they have done to create cap flexibility very soon and starting to acquire guys that could be valuable assets.

That is also the biggest thing to me. He is overpaid. Since it is offseason, I just want some discussion about the possibility.
It is just pure speculation. We are fans, and that is what we do. LOL
I think the team needs to stay on course, which is tomorrow. That will determine our fate!
GO Magic!

I’d swap the #8 this year with a protected 2022 FRP and probably keep Anthony. So Ross, Harris, 2022 Top-10 protected FRP, TPE(?) for Simmons.
Ben’s value is at rock bottom. No sense Otis Smith-ing ourselves, we’d have the leverage. If they think they can get more than so be it. I’d be fine building with our current young pieces and letting them or someone else hold that bag.

Re: Orlando Magic Trade Thread?
I'm not building around or even considering a point guard in 2021 who can't shoot to be a core piece of my team. Simmons has a role in this league as a lockdown defender, but it's just that. A role. He's not a star, && he's especially not the superstar he's getting paid to be. I'd rather not be the team stuck paying him.
What you saw in that series with him is exactly my fear with Fultz. When the playoffs come and you can't rely on transition basketball, you have to be able to shoot and score in the half-court. Especially if you're the primary playmaker.
Simmons just can't and was so far in his head by the end of that series he was passing up open dunks. Young is the antithesis of Ben, && should have confirmed to anyone watching why you build around a guard/player with that skillset over someone like Ben. You will just get exposed in this league come playoff time if you can't shoot.
If I'm the general manager of this team I'm going into this next rebuild with that reality in mind.

Re: Orlando Magic Trade Thread?
No. Why are people so dead set on chasing down a guy who hasn't improved since the day he got into the league offensively? He is still the same damn player, the SAME player, and here we are discussing trades around him? He has confidence issues, is super predictable offensively, and the only thing he does elitely is on a side of the basketball that we already are at least decent at. We need scoring punch that stretches the floor and opens lanes for drives. Ben Simmons does not do that and will never do that, so no. Hell no, if they call and ask, I hang up. If I call them, it is to laugh at them, and remind them of how Markelle is still a better shooter than Ben Simmons is.
Pause for a moment, Fultz is better as a shooter than Ben, The same Markelle Fultz that has had a shoulder issue causing him to shoot poorly. He couldn't outshoot him unless if they were five feet toward the basket, unless if it was the 4th quarter, and then I would bet on Fultz.
