Which position will Isaac spend most of 2021-2022 at?

Post#1 » by CZ Eddie » Thu Jun 24, 2021 5:27 am

He's gotten taller and gained weight since joining the NBA in 2017 as a 6'11" 205lb "Small Forward".
It's too soon to know for certain, since we don't yet even have a Coach for next season.

Which two positions will Isaac spend most of 2021-2022 at?
First position would be where he starts and the second position would be where he occasionally plays as backup/helper for certain lineups or when the starter is resting on the bench.

The injured list (before anyone else makes the joke)

I'd love to see him mostly at PF while playing "smallball" C except versus huge guys like Embiid.

Over under 40 games is better question.

That was my first thought, anything between hospital and recovery facility.

With Gordon traded, Orlando does not naturally have a starting PF. So Isaac must play PF by default. Only a race/FA acquisition changes that.

EDIT: If/when Kuminga is drafted, this question self-answers.

I mean even when gordon was here and before isaac got injured again, all the talk was gordon needs to go because Isaac is our PF and they cant play together. So when hes healthy, Isaac is our starting PF, atleast until he gets hurt again* and Okeke takes over

Really curious what a starting lineup would look like with

C - 6'9 Wendell Carter Jr
PF - 6'7 Chuma Okeke
SF - 6'8 (?) Jonathan Kuminga
SG - 6'4 RJ Hampton
PG - 6'2 Cole Anthony

......Talk about Small Ball

Thats such an unorthodox lineup on both sides of the court that could help create mismatches on offense, but would need to rely on a crazy scheme for team defense

Why do I keep forgetting Okeke?

I guess Orlando starts: Anthony/Harris/Isaac/Okeke/Carter. This means both FRP-rookies are bench players.

If during camp it seems that Kuminga is better than Okeke, why would we bench Kuminga just to appease Okeke? If Kuminga looks too raw yet, then of course we bring him along slowly from the bench.

Same with the 8th pick. If we project to pick one of the nba-ready SGs in Bouknight Moody Keon, and they outwork and outplay Cole and RJ, why would we bench them just to appease those two?

On the bench again. He'll get hurt again one month into his playing season.

He's been hurt most his entire NBA career and even missed alot of play at FSU due to injuries.

A bust.

Looking at what our draft picks will likely look like, I expect him to be our PF baseline, with occasional moments at C.

this is where i am at. I think he gets injured more playing SF. keep him at PF/C and closer to the key. use his shot blocking and help defense.

If he's healthy, he's going to be the starting power forward unless something weird happens.

I would love to see him play some backup/small ball center as well, but we'll cross that bridge when we hopefully get to it.

Orlando looks to be a Kindergarten club next year; in that no player will be gifted a starting slot. All positions must be earned.

Until he gets injured, he will be primarily PF and often C. I doubt he sees much if any time at SF.

It’s not a better question………it’s a boring and useless question, we hope he’s healthy, but who knows if he will be healthy or not. The question does not lead to any type of Informative or entertaining conversation.

I think he spends most of his time at PF, I still think he is versatile enough to spend a few minutes at SF or Center depending on matchups.

His non PF time will probably be dependent on Roster construction though will we need more help at the SF or center position after the draft/free agency.

Right now I see Bamba and WCjr having an even split at the C, so Isaac may be needed to eat up a few minutes at SF.

As should be. Harris starting SG is not secure. Let Mo and WCJ fight who wants to start. JI would probably be the starting PF because no one here has his size length and etc

Power Forward / Power Forward

I'll keep harping on this, but if he spends time at SF, I am scared for his knees. We HAVE to be smart about the way we play him.
