Re: Official Spec Thread: New Head Coach Era
I see the logic in this. We can get second-round talent at 5 and 8. We don't need to use the 33.

I think I'll log back in after our selections are made. I'm going to try and actually stay off Twitter/RealGM for once tonight until our picks are made so that I can avoid spoilers. Woj has already announced the first 4.
Here's to hoping that this place isn't burning down due to our selections by the time I return tonight

Re: Official Spec Thread: New Head Coach Era
With the injury histories of WCJ and Bamba, I think we need to sign a 3rd string center in free agency that we would be comfortable getting minutes as well.
I'm thinking of a young vet type that will sign for $3-$5M on a 2 year deal. Some names that might work are Cody Zeller, Daniel Theis, Nerlens Noel, WCS or Tony Bradley. I also wonder what Zach Collins will see in FA but he is more fragile than Isaac so I think we need to stay away there

I'm assuming we'll get Mo Wagner back.

Yeah but I think he is much more a perimeter style PF - plus he has been waived several times in the past year. Was thinking someone more reliable like Birch was for us. I'd say we get Mo and we still need a 3rd string C. WCS and Bamba are just too fragile historically, as are Isaac and Chuma. Come to think of it, our front court is REALLY injury prone. Gonna miss the reliability of Vuc and Birch if not the lack of upside and dynamism.

Agree and, if health and swoleness permit, I'd like to see some small-ball with Isaac and Wagner at big spots. I'm not saying Isaac is our new center...just moving things around, playing with chemistry. Clearly, he's an elite rim protector as well as an elite perimeter defender...there are not many Vuc's nowadays to pound on him in the low post.

Re: Official Spec Thread: New Head Coach Era
Magic organization people that are happy this morning:
Unhappy people this morning:
- Alex Martins - has a buzzy name to market around
Weltman - choice to tank paid off despite poor lottery luck
RJ Hampton - no Bouknight to compete with and a clear path to starting 2 once Harris is gone
Isaac/Chuma - no Barnes to compete with for playing time
WCJ/Bamba - no Sengun means center playing time is theirs for the taking
Mosley - got his on court team leader
Unhappy people this morning:
- Fultz - has to worry if he will have a prominent role by the time he gets back
Cole A. - lot of competition for PT in the backcourt
John Hammond - lost chance to try and draft another Giannis type (Barnes)

I would like to think, that since there is a new coaching staff every position is there to be won in training camp

Fultz isn't going anywhere.
