He pretty much summed everything i was saying about Barnes.
He is another draft gimmick "6'9 ballhandler, playmaker" except, he is not ballhandler, at least not good one and he is passer, not playmaker.

And guy can't shoot.

Gordon is pretty much target comparison with him. Willing passer, but not particularly useful skil to implement into good offense because when he has ball and stands 10 feet from rim, he is not treat to do anything but put his head down and go for rim, and against most teams it won't work.

Gordon had top 1% athleticism coming into the league and was actually a better 3PT shooter than Barnes was in college. To be fair to Barnes, I think he'll understand his role better than AG did. But right now he has no plan on offense.

And when Indiana's Chris Duarte or Washington's Corey Kispert wins the rookie of the year, then what. Does that make them the next Carter-Williams?

p.s. Watching Şengün pray to the ball before each free-throw is priceless.

There might be 10 players better than half the guys on my list. But the Wagner and Moody type, whilst potentially huge value at their selection slots, these sort of players would not be projected to have "the best NBA careers from this draft class."

Cam Thomas....the guy just knows how to score. Wish we could have gotten him (I do not base that upon his summer league performance only)

Jalen Suggs, Magic
Suggs was awesome. He was everything evaluators who loved him thought he was. The numbers may not look that different than Barnes’ (Suggs averaged 15.3 points, 6.3 rebounds and 2.3 assists) but remember that he went out after just 11 minutes in his third game due to a minor thumb injury that forced Orlando into shutting him down for the event.

It went beyond the numbers, though. The main thing worth noting with Suggs, though, is that a majority of his offense came perfectly within the run of halfcourt play, in translatable situations to NBA settings. He broke guys down off the bounce to get to the rim with skill and explosion. He hit catch-and-shoot jumpers and took advantage of mismatches both big and small. He made multiple pull-up 3s out of ball-screen actions that he’ll be asked to hit when defenders go under on him. And he was every bit the defender that Orlando thought it was getting when they drafted him, playing terrific on-ball and anticipatory off-ball defense. That included this play, where Suggs completely shut down a 2-on-1 transition opportunity by himself with a block and gathered his miss.

Suggs looked every bit the guy I thought he was pre-draft when I ranked him No. 2 overall. The Magic should hand over the keys to their offense to Suggs to start the year and let him grow through some of the eventual pains that’ll happen as a first-year player in the NBA. His upside is higher than anyone else’s on the roster, a legitimate potential All-Star who plays on both ends of the floor and can take over the game both as a scorer and as a passer.

Suggs must've liked the idea of coming to Florida. 2 out of the 5 schools he considered were in Florida.

Guards that can shoot have clear roles in the NBA.

It is very difficult for me to view him as a candidate for "best player in his draft".

Hoopshype Ranking of Top 22 PGs for 2021 Season:

https://hoopshype.com/lists/nba-rankings-rumors-top-22-point-guards-2021-22-season/

Suggs is on the radar:
Just missed the cut: Dennis Schroeder, Marcus Smart, Reggie Jackson, Jalen Suggs, John Wall

Likely not making the list due to no true NBA tape.
Here is the real question? Where does he finish the season on a list like this?

He ends the season on a tier with other young PG’s like Fox, Morant, and Young

For added context, Lamelo Ball is #11 after his rookie year.

Fox, Morant and Trae are well inside the top 10. So I believe the Lamelo ranks are more realistic for Year 1.

Lamelo has more holes in his game than Suggs and less athletic. I wouldn’t trade Suggs for Lamelo.

Who said anything about a trade!?

Lamelo won ROY, proved to be the cornerstone of the franchise and is being labeled just outside the top-10 at his position after just his rookie season.

That would be a great place to be sitting with Suggs next summer. That is all we are saying.

Suggs reminds me a little of Dwayne Wade.

Funny that they see Rozier at 20, and then label him as an "above-average starting point guard".
Well, by definition of above-average, shouldn´t he be at least at 14?!

Looking at that list it is clear that there are a lot of really good lead-guards in the NBA right now!

Sure there are. But still, by definition, an above-average starting point guard can´t be behind 19 other starting point guards.
That an average starting point guard, in this era, is better than an average SG or C, is another topic.
