Well... they kicked the can down the road a little further because.... we just drafted 2 19 year olds to add to the other 7 or 8 players that we have 24 and under that ALL need development and have the talent to do so. That would be a good reason. No?

Exactly, I don't get this at all, and I've had enough. I need some answers from management about what on earth their thinking is. Because from the outside looking in, it looks like one of the least talented teams in the league refusing to add talent on favorable contracts.

And all they're doing is kicking the can down the road just to do it all over again next year. Like IF you decide that you have "TOO MUCH YOUNG TALENT OH NO WHAT MUST WE DO", then utilize your second rounders to acquire useful veterans that help you during the season and teach the young guys the ropes. This is just voluntary destruction of assets at this point.

The Magic now have 12 guaranteed contracts which will be 13 if they pick up Bacon's option.

You have to invest a roster spot in the player and maybe they wanted more flexibility especially if they make a trade or want to add some veterans.

I'm glad they got a future 2nd and not just cash though.

The odds our 2nd round pick would be better than the prospects we have now are very, very small

Push the asset down the line to when the age limit rule changes and there’s better odds of adding someone who will stick

I remember last year everyone said it didn't matter that we traded our 2nd rounder cause they wouldn't make the team or ever play, but if I recall, they signed and carried Karim Mane for most the season, so there was room for a 2nd rounder, but weham just wanted to go e devos a few extra bucks

Funny that the NBA champion bucks could buy our 2nd rounder and had room for him, but clearly we were too good for that, same with the NBA champion Lakers buying and carrying THT all season while we were too good for that...
Now the clippers, wcf team could afford it, but not us..... Guess we know who's winning the championship this year

Given the current state of the roster, I would be very unpleasantly surprised if we brought Bacon back. Gotta add a couple cheap mentor type vets and call it a day.

Punting the 2nd rounder sucks, but resigning Bacon would ruin my day. Possibly my week.

I also expect T-Ross to be moved by the Deadline and could see MCW being let go.

There’s also odds we passed on a Middleton, Draymond, Jokic, etc, and whilst also very very small they’re still odds we gave up for little return or reason.

It’s like just throwing a lottery ticket in the bin because you don’t want to have to find somewhere to put the money if you win.

Chuma can but not sure on Wagner.

Ross can too but roster does have to be filled out.

So we get a future 2nd and cash considerations from the Clippers? It's just terrible value. This was a first-round pick. There was a lot of talent still out there worth having a look at. Tyrese Maxey doesn't make the first round in this year's draft.

I absolutely agree with all of the above. I definitely see Ross being moved relatively soon.

As far as Bacon goes, I just don’t see him being a productive part of a young team trying to teach good habits. It’s nothing personal, I wish him the best, I just think it’s time to part ways. I’m sure he could find a spot as a depth guy elsewhere.

If MCW is ok with a very reduced role I could see him staying in a mentor role, but that’s far from a sure thing. I love his effort, but not at the expense of our young guards PT. He may want to move on to a team that can either give him a bigger role or be a 10-15 energizer for a contender.

It should be an interesting couple of months.

I said in the other thread that I think they rather evaluate undrafted free agents and have them fight for a spot. More time to evaluate and interview I would think. If they had someone they worked out and liked fall to that spot they'd use the pick (maybe).
