Robbins on the Lopez Signing and More ($)
Takeaways
-Lopez was signed to push Bamba and make him better, not replace him
-Magic will waive Dwayne Bacon
-Magic will sign a veteran 3rd string forward, most likely PF
-Magic will keep 15th spot open or sign a player to a non-guaranteed deal because they have the Fournier TPE to take on a contract with a pick all the way up until the trade deadline

But to be serious, they're actually thinking exactly what I would be thinking/doing and I'm shocked.
-Lopez is the BIG center needed to push Bamba around.
-Cut Bacon
-Fill the 3rd string PF role
Exactly what I said a few days ago.

Makes me wonder how much pull Clifford had with Martins and the Devos'.... and if the FO finally put their feet down sometime before all of the trades.

Re: Robbins on the Lopez Signing and More ($)
Sign DJ Wilson to a 1-year deal for the minimum and sign Ignas Brazdeikis to a fully unguaranteed deal to get to 15, with Iggy able to be waived if something comes up in a trade later in the season?
G: Suggs, Anthony, Fultz (until he's healthy)
G: Harris, Hampton, Carter-Williams
F: Wagner, Ross, Brazdeikis
F: Isaac, Okeke, Wilson
C: Carter, Bamba, Lopez

Once Fultz is healthy, how do you see the depth chart? I'd love Fultz and Suggs on the floor together, but only if the former is the primary playmaker and the latter cutting or curling off screens to either shoot or playmake as a secondary option. Anthony, to me, is the scoring punch/6th man off the bench no matter what.Knightro wrote:Sign DJ Wilson to a 1-year deal for the minimum and sign Ignas Brazdeikis to a fully unguaranteed deal to get to 15, with Iggy able to be waived if something comes up in a trade later in the season?

I'm just trying to figure out how they went from straight out bad, to doing things that make sense. What changed? Obviously what I said is probably a reach and outlandish but something must have changed. I would like to know what happened.

C: Carter, Bamba, Lopez
Why Wilson? Isnt this the former Bucks player?
I prefer MoWag for the last big spot.
Also, HA! So RoLo is to help Mo not to replace him lol. I really wondered where that idea came from?

Might be the most logical off-season since the FO took over.

Desperation.
Playing behind an allstar didnt help. So we needed to lower the standard.
But seriously, I hope this works.

It came from impatient people. The idea to help Mo likely came from the new coach that focuses on development. A blind man could see that Mo struggled against big centers and was pushed out of position all the time. Having a big like Robin to go at him in practice is what is needed. It should have been something we did from day 1… along with a big man coach. We had one for Dwight from day 1 IIRC and later had him work with Ewing. If your going to invest a high lotto pick on a player, giving him little playing time, and little development focus is just as poor management as his effort has been at times. Hopefully this helps him.

Yup it is a good idea.. Althlugh if its going against big men then why couldnt he go against a great big offensive C in Vuc?
But I meant where did the idea come from that we signed RoLo so we can trade Mo?

Also forgive my forgetfulness but Dwight credited 1 assistant coach we had for developing him. I think that coach went to BOS?

Vuc is marshmallow soft on the court.

It's annoying...it makes absolutely no sense. They should be the same ones who didn't like the Wagner pick even without even seen him play.
