We all can see the crazy moves Chicago made to make a run over the next few years. I am glad we have a full year of not caring. Would love to know your thoughts on if you think this mix of players will work or will they have to blow it up and delivery us ANOTHER lottery pick.

Keep in mind that lavine is a fa next year. DeRozan is good but he's heading on the decline. Vuc is bound to decline some.

guess it depends on whether Lavine re-signs, maybe, or is he all show? I don't know how they re-sign him with all the money they just spent, of course I don't know why Lavine would re-sign with the Bulls if they didn't add talent and try to win. Sounds like that dude is expecting a big deal.

The team looks like a playoff team next season. No idea in 2023.

The East suddenly looks tough. Miami has to be near a lock. New York too?, 7 good teams, and a lot of decent teams fighting for 8. I thought Chicago was a lock but looking at that list, i don't know.

Even with the players they have, I'm skeptical they'll play enough defense to be a home court advantage team.

If Lavine leaves, I don't see them being anything above a play-in team. They have a low ceiling either way IMO and are an injury or chemistry problems away from being a lotto team.

Not to mention the season after next Vuc will be 32 and DeRozan will be 34. Neither player is particularly reliant on athleticism but you have to imagine they're on (or about to be on) the decline.

As someone (Xatticus?) has said, this season needs to go well or Karnisovas is going to look pretty foolish for cashing in assets for and giving big contracts to the core they have.

Chicago will miss the playoffs again. None of these moves struck me as them being legitimate. Everything was a desperation move to keep Lavine.

They improved some of there weaknesses in adding more playmaking & guard defense. In case Markkanen goes, they have zero rim protection & noone who can cover Vuc, except if Williams makes a jump. But so far he looks for me, without checking the stats, like the worst defender of all the Florida state prospects of the last 3-4 years. But his development probably makes the difference between 10-7th seed or the chance for homecourt.
Gonna be interesting how all those guys fit together. On paper it looks good but when you check what they all did so far in there career, it could be the ''empty stats Allstar team'' too.
Playing style fit is another question. Vuc & DeRozen wanna play slow & Ball & LaVine are better in a fast pace game.
Losing Thad wont be easy too. He was maybe the most important player the last years but his playing style resembled too much Vooch's but he was a good smallball Center for them. In the games i've watched, they were better with him & Vuc on the bench, because they got alot of easy points on the break. They have a ton of ballstoppers now, wonder how this plays out.

I guess they end up between 9-6 next season but woudnt be surprised if they lose in the playin Tournee. Nets, Bucks, Heat, Sixers are clearly better, ATL should be better. I think Boston rebounds a bit this year again. Knicks are one of the few team who play defense in the regular season & gonna win alot against bad & unprepared teams. Pacers if healthy could win 45-47 games too.

If Chicago 2023 pick isn't lottery it will still be a decent pick. They're no where's near the best teams in the league.

Who knows maybe that pick will be better than our own pick

They have improved enoough to where they will be right there in the play in games for the next 2 years assuming Lavine stays. It will be close but I voted no. I think they will be in the top 8. Just a matter if if they win the play in

Carter and Franz are pretty good value for Vuc. I feel like that 2023 is just straight gravy. I am not going to complain even if it is 15-22 or something like that

I realised yesterday that Vučević is only under contract through 2023. Not having this pick really sucks for the Bulls regardless of where it lands.

Chicago has a two year run for .... what for? This is not a championship-level roster so I guess it is about making the Easter Finals in the next two years. Is that the "Success" a team mortgages their future on?

The Bulls could be stinky-smelly bad from 2025-2030.

Dumping Aminu's contract was a net on this trade as well.

For me a bunch of your "good chance" teams are moving downward. Also, whereas Cleveland and Detroit are solid "notes", if every single Magician shows a talent increase, I could see Orlando sneaking in to the 10-seed.

..

is moving towards

wow 2 years away is sooooo.... Will Lavine resign? Does Vuc still have his All-star form? Will they get a good defensive big man? Are they assuming PWill can cover the elite big wings in the league?

Let's say Chicago is the 5-seed in the 2022/23 season, that would be a pick in the 18-22 range. Orlando would expect a 3rd-stringer rookie that would develop in to a solid bench player.

The Hawks is loaded with these sorts of players: Kevin Huerter, John Collins, Clint Capela, Solomon Hill, Tony Snell, and now - Jalen Johnson.

Let me be even more in depth about this. The Bulls just grabbed whoever was available and didn't really look at fit. None of the guys they brought in give me the impression that they will play well with Lavine on roster. Ball wants the ball, Derozan wants the ball, Lavine wants the ball, Vuc wants the ball. Its like someone in 2k making a simulation and just grabbing random players to see if he can win a bunch of games without any real scheme to construction. In my opinion this team still screams mediocrity.

Derozan wasn't turning heads in San Antonio. He isn't a modern wing and that will greatly hurt them, not being a great three point shooter and being a majority mid-range to in the paint scorer is definitely not going to do wonders for spacing.

Its like they didn't watch New Orleans and why that team didn't work with Ball at the PG last year. Without the ball and in a lessened role on the offensive end the guy is a "meh" starter at best. They have grabbed plenty of people to limit his offensive contribution as a primary ball handler, not that Lavine was ever not going to have the ball in his hands.

All in all, this is a failure, but lets also look how they still haven't learned how to use Vuc right either. This was all a recipe for disaster and they are going to pay the price this season and in the future.
