Re: 2021-22 Orlando Magic schedule
We won't be getting a Christmas game until we're contending. That's a fact for all teams outside of the Knicks and Lakers and maybe the Celtics as well.
We should get a couple of National games thanks to Suggs alone though.

Re: 2021-22 Orlando Magic schedule
With the 4 October game to kick off the pre-season, is there an official date yet for the beginning of camp?
Edit: found it.

Orlando opens training camp on September 28 at Amway Center.

i miss the day games in the bubble, and working from home. They should really consider an in-season tournament.

Ownership and the TV is thrilled. The players not-so-much. Even if they got paid more, how would these games reflect the chance to win a title?
For me I would rather that the 8 worst teams (teams #8-#15) in the Conference play a single game elimination tourney for the 8-seed, with the top-7 teams (teams #1-#7) guaranteed their normal seed in the playoffs. The top-seed thus gets the play-in winner, who would have only played an additional 3-games to get to this point. This solves tanking (the-bottom 8 teams would want a good play-in slot) and is super interesting for fans.

The players union should do whatever is best for the sport, and raises the money and the revenue share. Maybe they could have the tournament winner play a game against the Euro champion to declare a world champion. Should be plenty of money involved, who knows, maybe the players take this even more seriously, especially the international guys.
Could also use tournament to help decide seeding. Doesn't even need to be a 30 team tournament. Could be 2 brackets like top 20 and bottom 10, with the bottom bracket helping decide draft position.

I think we might snag one nationally televised game this year with Suggs on the roster.

Whereas I like the idea of an NBA team playing a FIBA team, calling that "world champion" is not something advertisers would go for.
But the seeding idea is interesting.

Re: 2021-22 Orlando Magic schedule
November & December seem really tough. For a young team, new coach, and unsure if we'll have Kelle/JI back (i think we will), our decision to tank will be made for us, the first 35 games, lol.
On the flip side, the end of the season is more our speed and should allow us to go into the summer on a high note. Team chemistry will be improved by then to, so I expect wins. The lighter end of the season will also mess up any "tanking" plans with several wins coming.
If we get Kelle/JI back for camp, and stay healthy, I think we have a chance to be in the play-in discussion.

Quite a few "series" games. A good mix of BtB games at both arenas. But an interesting Away-away series against the Bucks and and a Home-home series. I really like these and I am happy the Magic has a handful (I think about 6).

Re: 2021-22 Orlando Magic schedule
The Vegas lines has the Magic as the second worst team with an over/under of 23.5 wins.
a) I LOVE the over. The Magic won the equivalent of 24 games last season. And this season should have clear improvements (if healthy).
b) Are they hi to have the Cavs (26.5) and Pistons (25.5) with better betting records???
c) The Thunder at 22.5, I love their under. I find it hard to believe OKC gets to 20 wins.

OKc probably goes under because West is simply better competition.
Pistons, Cavs and Magic are all in mix for that 25-is wins, seems realistic.
I'm interested to see how Pistons will play. There is SOME talent there.
Killian Hayes- Bey- Cade- Grant- Kelly Ollynyk /// Joseph- Diallo- Jackson-Lyles- Okafor
that's not world's worst rotation 10.

I would project the Magic at about 28 wins and be either the 12 or 13 seed in the East. In many ways this roster reminds me of last-year's Minny T-Wolves - lots of talent and no direction.
But I am super excited about the decision processes that will lead to the 2022 roster. A bunch of questions get answered this year (I hope).

I just can't imagine them winning anything close to 30 games. I'm in mid 20s range, 22-26 range.
First part of the schedule is always more competitive than last one, and after trades we were active tanker, sure, but that "active tanking " roster is pretty much idential to 2021-22 roster, with additions of 2 rookies ( who are almost always negative assets in terms of W-L in rookie year) and 2 post ACL recovery guys.
I think they will enter season all being hyped, but after few Ls in a row they will also sink deeper than vets normally do.
You look at Novemer 15-December 1 part of schedule, Atlanta, Knicks, Nets, Bucks, Bucks, Bulls, Cavs,76ers , Nuggets. you can basically already sign 8 Ls in 9 games there.
Doesn't get any better after that.
