ORL sends: Cole Anthony, RJ Hampton
WAS sends: Deni Avdija, Corey Kispert

I like Cole but I'd sell high (QUICK) for a little more spacing and team play. WAS is thick with big wings with Kuzma, Bertans, and now Hachimura back and don't have enough scoring depth at the guard spot. Cole could come off the bench but play big minutes. ORL has Fultz and, especially, Suggs to run point (along with Franz as a big guard/point forward)...Avidja and Kispert don't have numbers like Cole, but are solid, all-around players with high BBIQ and, most importantly, floor-spreading range (allegedly). RJ is another cost-controlled energy guy with yet-to-be determined upside. Basically, I'd be hoping to trade flash for substance and understand that there may be quite a few nights reading about Cole going for 30 and that's ok. WAS could play some 3 guard lineups that might be pretty electrifying too. The ORL lineup below just gives me "play the right way" vibes with Franz being the best example of what we're hoping to do. You could start 3 Franz's if you had them. Everyone other than Fultz and Bamba are basically positionless, versatile players that can be organized in many different sets.

Fultz/Suggs/MCW
Franz/Harris/TRoss
Avidja/Kispert
Isaac/Chuma/M.Wagner
WCJ/Bamba/RoLo

Lots of actual basketball skill (shooting!!) as well as positional size and defensive possibility on this roster and still significant room for more change. Harris, TRoss,Bamba are all apparently in play as well as picks and a TPE.

Kispert has not transitioned his shooting to the NBA. it could be a slump, or it could be he cant handle the more athletic players that he didnt face in that joke of a conference Gonzaga plays in

i swear people are so quick to want to get rid of Cole that they would literally give him away for nothing
Deni has shown nothing in 2 years . Hes a below average shooter and defender and really is only hype at this point. And Krispert has barely played. Not saying kispert wont be good, but to this point hasnt even shown to be a good shooter, and thats basically going to his calling card

We finally get someone who knows how to lead and how to put the ball in the basket (wow crazy concepts huh?), not to mention wants to be in Orlando....... and everyone is dying for them to get sent out ASAP for garbage

That’s how this board is. He’s not the guy they wanted to have a breakout season, so now HE MUST BE TRADED!! There’s nothing wrong with how Cole plays. Don’t we own the biggest differential when he’s on the bench? He looks to do what he’s really good at… putting the ball in the hoop.

Oh Brother!!! Lighten up Francis...I didn't propose banishing Cole to the netherworlds. You guys make it sound like it's personal that I would prefer bigger, more defensive minded wings who move the ball, hit open 3's and make the game easier. Cole's awesome, I'd prefer to keep him to run the second unit, but he has value...I'd prefer to trade E'Twaun but that would get us what?

We could always sign Isaiah Thomas to fill his shoes.

Is this Simmons trade talk a true possibility or just nonsense talk since our Team is so bad that there's nothing else to talk about or kill time?

Are we really in the mix to trade for him?

I do agree with Knightro's analysis...I would expand his to include Bamba somehow.

Mostly nonsense. Just Chad Ford throwing out a random idea.

I do find it fascinating that Daryl Morey seems content to cut off his nose to spite his face and waste a year of Embiid's prime by stubbornly holding on to Simmons waiting offers that seemingly aren't coming.

I don't think Philadelphia is that far off. They're 20-9 when Embiid plays which is roughly a 57-win pace.

If they flipped Simmons for 2 or 3 quality rotation pieces and Embiid stays healthy, couldn't they potentially make a Finals run? I don't think Milwaukee or Brooklyn are wildly better than them, especially not if they added reinforcements.

If the Sixers genuinely want to pair Tobias Harris in a Simmons trade, then this is ridiculous for Orlando.

Not saying that it is based on actual team involvement, but I've decided this Chad Ford idea is a fair deal, because in the Comments to his Tweet fans of both teams absolutely hate it - that means it is totally balanced

Edit: Also Magic Twitter REALLLY love Cole - had no idea he had this kind of support

nonsense

We arent trading for him

Most of this talk stems from a proposed trade idea by chad Ford that he just thought of as an idea, not anything real

Most magic fans i know outside of this board love Cole

This board has just been poisoned to believe that anyone who isnt a steph curry type shooter, with Kawhi level defense and CP3 playmaking ability is a scrub who needs to be benched or traded. So many here tend to overlook impact on the court for "advanced stats" and ignore what their eyes are telling them, and thus literally hate EVERYONE, no one has ever been good enough for this board. I dont know if thats a few here bash guys like cole so much that others buy into that line of thinking, or if they are just put off by his confidence\attitude, or if they are still using pre-draft bias to continue to look for reasons to continue hating him.

There a a popular tik tok\IG meme thats going around right now of a comedian who says something along the lines of
"you ever notice when you hate someone, everything they do pisses you off, like "look at that ***** over there eating chicken, why you eating chicken *****"
I feel like thats how this board is with cole, most hate him so much from their predraft thoughts of him that he could have a game where he scores 30pts, 15 assist, 10 rebounds, shoots 15-17, and the comments in the gameday thread would still be "god i cant stand how much cole dribbles, canmt wait for him to move to the bench" or "while is cole always fighting our bigs for rebounds, that selfishness is really gonna make his teammates hate him"

I actually would do this if you could find a third team to take the trash persona of Ben Simmons for draft picks and young maybe stars like Simons on Portland. Simmons makes no sense on this iteration of the Magic, but with all the teams willing to throw big packages (albeit rebuilding packages that PHI doesn't want), I bet we could get quite a rebuilder's haul.

Again this thinking is true. Many of us want a knee jerk reaction when seeing a superstar or high level All Star on the market, we want to trade everybody for him because this team needs a super star.

That lowers your room for mistakes. Because High Level stars bring you more expectation. Do you want that for a young team?

But giving up so much? Also back to my point, we have to give up Cole and Isaac? I am not doing this. I'd rather roll with our young guys and let them develop plus following our own rebuild process.

Ben Simmons is nice. He is an All NBA player. But what is his character? Is he a me guy or we guy? Does he work hard? Will he invest in the relationship of the coaching staff and his teammates?

There is a lot of unknown here. Same goes for Damian Lillard and all the other superstars on the market.

Many people already have a wrong opinion on Cole and Isaac. Either Cole doesn't pass or Isaac has political issues and he doesn't get Vaccinated. Cole is only a second year player. Plus he already among the league leaders in Most Improved and most points in the 4th Quarter. Cole can be an All Star one day.

Also on Isaac. I like him and I like his faith. He just needs to prioritize basketball and work to get back on the court.

BTW at the end, hell no!

it’s been like that for a long time starting with Jameer. Basically if our PGs aren’t LeBron then they suck. I wasn’t a fan of Coles game either but he’s not scared of taking and making clutch shots, he’s a vocal leader, and leads by example (fighting bigs for rebounds) he actually does find the open three point shooter.

People have made up this myth, as they do with the appointed scapegoats, that he doesn’t pass to open shooters just to have something to complain about. He struggles to defend but that’s not why he’s on the court. Collectively this team is garbage and we are significantly worse with him on the bench.

I remember last season people had problems with his confidence(see your chicken reference) which was absurd to me. I want guys with that kind of confidence on my team. May be some dudes around here are just metas… IDK. It was (Please Use More Appropriate Word) thing to complain about.

Most fans outside of this board have zero problems with Cole. Anyway I don’t want to get dragged back into posting on this board too much. I’ve been able to actually enjoy watching the games without reading people working so hard to tear down a good game by a player they obviously hate.

How about G. Harris for Rubio's expiring + SRP? (Cavs currently own Houston and San Antonio's SRPs in the next draft)

I don't think the Magic would help out a conference rival like that. Harris could have a good 4-year run and the Cavs would have his bird rights. If the Cavs offered an unprotected 2027 pick the Magic might bite.

The same is true for Moody. I was so high on those two for having "a defined NBA skill". I guess this is why I am not in basketball management!

Fultz would have traded in very short order if the Magic acquired a PG/primary ball handler/primary shot creator/whatever you want to call it.

Simmons IMO fits that bill, so Fultz would have to go.

He makes too much money to be a backup and he doesn't have the skill set to play off the ball.
