Will they have enough players tonight?

The Magic have 17 players under contract. 15 guaranteed contracts and 2 two-way contracts.

Of those 17...

4 are out with COVID (Brazdeikis, Hampton, Ross, M. Wagner)
5 are out with injuries (Isaac, Fultz, Carter-Williams, Moore, Suggs)

That leaves the Magic with the minimum 8 available players the NBA mandates to field a team.

The problem is that Anthony, Bamba and Harris are all questionable to play tonight with injuries. These injuries kept Bamba and Harris out two days ago.

If any of Anthony, Bamba or Harris can't play, we're getting a postponement.

If we only have 8 players as of now, I think they cancel it. They wouldn't want a situation where the arena filled up and then another player tested positive right before the game. Plus take a chance of infecting the Heat.

I don’t think there is a real risk of the Arena filling up.

Given the pathetic performance of this team in the past decade there is already a social distancing advantage at the arena...

Not shocked... I wonder if it's omicron or some other variant that is ravaging the NBA right now

If by ravaging you mean testing positive with no actual symptoms then yes, the NBA is being ravaged by Covid. Notice how there is not one ounce of concern for the players that test positive yet we are still treating positive tests like a cancellation of an event must follow it.

To be fair, Embiid said ‘I really thought I wasn’t going to make it’. Not everyone is asymptomatic.

Several players have gotten pretty sick from it, thankfully they've been able to recover for the most part. Then there is the risk of them getting team employees sick.

we got 12 on injured list and thats the most in the NBA atm
3 are game time decision ...
I feel We shouldnt risk it and
day to day guys should rather heal their injuries than forcefully play
so we could get yet another glorious L

It's going to be interesting tonight and hope it is not a complete blowout.

This nationwide covid bug is bad.

Copy my post from today's game thread - Honestly though, how long before we go into another form of shut down? What's happening in the NBA, NFL, Premier League ... teams are barely going to be able to field squads with current covid protocols. Somethings going to have to give

If this new variant does turn out to be super infectious, but super mild, surely the protocols need to evolve.

It's still too early to say for absolute sure that it's milder. However, even if it's milder, but way more transmissible, then it's still bad news. Hospitilisations and deaths will still rise.

Very anecdotal but I would love to know Bamba’s vaccination status. If he had both shots, plus the booster, and natural immunity, you would have to wonder what that means for those with less ‘immunity’.

Alright who did it. Who sneezed on the players?
