Franz and the ROY race

Franz is just impressive as a rookie. Makes all the right decisions and in such a short time has shown improvements. He did start a bit slow considering the preseason, but is balling and putting it all out there every night. With such a decimated team he has been the one constant that we can count on. I am really pleased with his pick and looking forward at what else he can become. I think he has a real shot at ROY and while individual accolades are not what we are looking for as a team, it is great to know the future for the Magic is bright with this kid around.

Wagner and Suggs both have gems and warts in their game. If I was a voter, for me, Scottie Barnes is running away with this. His stats are efficient and leading to wins, critically.

Then I'd say that Mobley has a better shot than Barnes, similar stats, but a Top5 team in the Eastern Conference.

Depends how Cavs will end up. If Mobley plays, they win +45 games, that kid could be in all nba defensvie team and by definition will be ROY.
But Franz is by far best thing that happend to Orlando since Vuc turnaround into allstar. Funny enough, they are connected via trade. Because Orlando can't have too many of good things at once

And Vuc is connected to D12

If the season ended today, Evan Mobley would be the ROY in a landslide.
+6.4 NET for a 20-14 team. No brainer.
Barnes and Franz have both been tremendous, but Mobley's having the most impact by a mile.

Raptors are 12-15 when Barnes plays and the Cavs are 17-9 when Mobley plays for whatever that's worth.

I think Franz has to put up 20 PPG to have a chance.

Yup... let's be real here. This ROY is Mobley's to lose. He us getting it unless * knock on wood* a season ending injury happens a few games from now.
Also, Barnes and Franz are firmly knocking on that door while the guy with the momentum and steam rampaging over the horizon is Cade.

What race? At this point we can call it the “Wagner Victory Lap”

Cade really needs to not only score in bulk, but to score way more efficiently to have a chance.
In the last 9 games he's scoring 17.9 shots however it's taking him 16.2 shots to do so.
41.2 FG%/ 40.4 3P% (he very shot well in 3 games)/ 85.7% FT%
He averaged 5.7 rebounds, 1.7 steals (impressive), 6.3 assists but 4.1 turn overs.
He has not yet put up a stretch where I can say yeah, he's knocking at the top 3 rookies. He's too inconsistent atm is the problem.
Yes rookies in general are inconsistent but he's up against Mobley, Barnes and now Wagner for the ROY.

Most rookies don’t have the poise or IQ that FW is showing this early most take a little time which is why I’m not worried about Suggs, Cade, Green, or Mobley.

Yes... key word is ATM. Thats why I said rampaging over the horizon because the 3 were better prepared and had more games than Cade.

Vuc was considered trade fodder and turned in two AS appearances. Damn good player with a hell of a work ethic. Can’t say that for most guys who put more effort in their next tat or flexing after basic plays. That said I’m stoked about Wagner and still excited about Suggs.

It'll be interesting.
If Cade catches fire he could right the ship and have the TS% to back up his PPG. He'll have all the shots needed to do so.

I think BBIQ + Skill wise Mobley, Wagner, Barnes, Cade (needs to lower his TOs) are ahead of the curve.
Suggs, Giddey, Sengun Are high BBIQ players that have some type of high end skill (elite defense or passing) but are too flawed atm to be put in that top 4. They need more seasoning (or a larger playing time sample size with Sengun) to reach that next level.
I'm a Raptor fan and as of now Mobley deserves to win ROY hands down.

I know I'll sound like a hipster if I say that awards don't matter, but rookie of the year always seemed like one of the dumbest. In fact, it seems like it's better not to win it and have a chip on your shoulder all summer.
He's the 8th pick in the draft so we're already playing with house money. NBA fans know who he is now at least. That's good enough.

I don't think Wagner is perfect, by any means, but what do you consider his "warts"? (and can they be overcome-what's his ceiling?)
