They're solid players (Gordon playing his role for Denver, Vuc settling in now with a good role even though he struggled early) .. Evan seems to be the odd man out even though he will go off for random 20-40 point nights but do nothing for like 5 straight games.. but yeah as a team those are like 3rd-5th options.

Yeah, the magic have always been good at getting solid role players (we also had Victor, Harris, and Harkeless) but it's just getting the superstars that has always been the problem.

I was quietly rooting for the loss as I do every game  (since so many get their feelings hurt around here when you actively chat about tanking)

So yes, I'm happy. I'll be even happier when we finally find a real A-list star

If you want to find sucess stories of rebuild, you better look at flowers when Magic and Pistons square off:

5th overall pick out after playing like s***
6th overall pick looking like garbage forever
6th overall pick being out for 2 years
1st overall pick being out for 14 months while being considered second worst first overall pick in last 20 years
1st overall pick from Pistons looking crappy
7th overall pick from Pistons being garbage
4th overall pick ( Josh Jackson) almost out of nba in 5 years

If you excluse this draft due clear need for more sample size , from 2010-2020 Andre Drummond is best player you will find ever drafted in lottery between those two, at least only one who made allstar game while being on team who took him

Games like this just show how far away we are from notion that 1 lottery pick and 2 role players will "change tragjectory" of this team. To add inslut to injury, Gary Harris just started to look like nba player again, and he will probably leave in free agency.

Rumor has it that Mosley once drew up an offensive play .
Magic scored 7 points in last 6 min of basketball game

In that period Cole World attemped 3 threes ( missed all 3) and missed one driving layup. Matter of fact only Ross, Harris and Cole even shot in that period, with almost all shots being them taking some sort of 3 pointers. Great offense coach! You make Frank Vogel- Gordon offense look like Warriors offball motion.

Rookie coach on bad team is excellent tanking strategy. Will be interesting what happends to a team once they stop "winning" relly drive in race worst worst team where they only compete against themselfs and actually start to compete with 29 other teams to win some games. 7-33. You would reach that with player- coach.

While I know it’s year 1 of this rebuild, this is play is horrid. Surely coach could’ve drawn something better than this, Cole also needs to utilise the screen. I don’t mind the loss, I just want better from a sub 10 seconds inbound play. I echo what some of you guys are saying about Franz’ touches this game. It’s not alarming for me yet as we are still early into this rebuild, but coach needs to get these guys to spread the ball/Cole is going to need to improve his decision making like I’ve said before.

I’m sure when Fultz is back the ball is going to move better than it has been. Well I hope so.

We played 4 straight close matches and we still dont have any idea how to execute in the clutch. It would be great if we at least tried to do something. Anthony played ok whole game except few hit check long 3s but he acts like he is alone there in the end.
Wagner struggled a little but was a plus on the floor overall. I dont think he cares about rookie of the year, he just wants to win.
Okeke has no confidence. It was painfull to watch him play on offense. On defense he was good, locking up Cade in stretches. I like him guarding smaller players in big lineups.
Harris is mvp, without him we are college team.

ps. also no one mentions it but i think Franz low involvement was connected directly to WCJ missing game. Carter is unselfish, sets good screens, rolls hard and has good chemistry with Boogie. Without him its moving the ball on the perimeter without any advantage.
Bamba cant work in this role at all (although he was ok on defense today i must admit.)
My money is on Banchero going number 1 !

In trying to find positives, Orlando had another strong FT% night. The team averages for the season a number north of 78%. In this game, a stellar 20-23 line kept the Magic in the game.

The problem is with 8.0 seconds on the clock I think they thought the Pistons were going to foul. So he took a rushed 3 point attempt. Had he used the screen the Pistons either woulda trapped him or switched and fouled. So he tried to catch them slipping by rejecting the screen and going the other way. Didn't work.

If I wasn't rooting for a loss that Ross and Cole show ballhogging joke of an offence down the stretch would have been really annoying.

Harris has looked so much better lately, he looks much healthier and he's most likely really motivated to find himself a new team and get out of this tanking mess ASAP. Ross is also showing signs of actually trying on defence for a change. Hopefully we will be able to get some decent return for them at the deadline.

lol that reminds me Evan Dunlap blocked me like 8 years ago on Twitter because he was talking about an Oladipo triple double and I said "He got it in double OT so technically it's a less impressive game than some others he's had but still really good" (I think he called it his best game) and then blocked me. Some Magic fans are so sensitive and he was a writer for a big website. Yikessss

Nah, that’s just how bad Cole Anthony clutch plays look when the shots don’t fall. When they go in people think they’re marvellously pulled off and he goes into show mode. When they don’t fall it shows how poor his shot selection actually is.
