Do you consider this a fair trade? (Cole+Bamba) for (RJ Barrett)
First, I'm going to post this on the Knicks board as well to gauge their opinion of our guys but I do wonder how the fanbases view their current players vs guys on other teams.
The premise of this idea is 'the magic will not be matching offers on Bamba this summer and are looking to deal him'. With that said what are your thoughts on this trade:
Orl receives: RJ Barrett
NYK receives: Cole and Bamba
http://www.espn.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=yyp2q6rf
I've brough up RJ Barrett a few times but honestly, I'm not fixated on him. It's more about difficulty in finding a team in need for a trade, has a decent young rookie contract player, and isn't in win-now mode.
Another variation of this deal could be:
Orl receives: RJ Barrett and Arcidiacono
NYK receives: Cole and TRoss
http://www.espn.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=y9mzjmhr
The poll is on the original deal though. The second deal is just listed for additional discussion.

Why is NYK parting ways with RJ Barrett? I haven't followed him too much.
Also why would they take on Cole? Do they need a PG?

They are underperforming and starting Kemba... and Rose is injured. Yes they need a PG. Not Cole. But a PG.

Knicks probably laugh at us. Is it because of the NY connections the reason they like Mo and Cole?

They hate the trade. They're likely headed for another rebuild so it makes sense to not move RJ at this point.

This isn't happening... Also, the Magic will most likely go after a definitive or on the cusp player at the 2-Guard Position who can shoot and play off the ball more if they opt to go that direction. The Magic already have a crap ton of Youth on the team. Adding another one whose contract ends the next season without him showing any sort of star potential doesn't make sense if you have to extend him.

Knicks have a long term plan to reunite Dukes big 3 back together, Barrett, Reddish and Zion.

Re: Do you consider this a fair trade? (Cole+Bamba) for (RJ Barrett)
This is an unbalanced poll, as my default answer would have been NO: unbalanced for both teams, but that options was left out of the boolean logic options.
A more realistic trade here would probably be Fultz and Bamba for Barrett and change. Or the Magic FRP and Bamba for Barrett.
But in the end, is Barret really anything more than the next Fournier?

fourth BAD center.
Worst part of RealGM is posters casually stating a team's "master plan" as if they have any clues or it's even been mentioned anywhere else...Speculation is fun, believing you really know anything is annoyingly juvenile.

People here continue to call me a hater of Cole so how can it be 'crap'?
The point of this thread was to really gauge how high fans here value Cole.

I think a lot of people here have soured on Cole’s value a bit (me included), I also don’t think RJ is anything special.
RJ still has the 3rd pick shine on him but they’re both volume inefficient scorers. I’d rate em similarly but I think Knicks fans would be pretty butt hurt over this trade.

Nope. Don’t like it. And I get you’re trying to gauge value here, but I just don’t like it for either team.

RJ also has prototypical size for his position. Anthony does not

I would do this of course, but I don't think the Knicks would go for it.

Re: Do you consider this a fair trade? (Cole+Bamba) for (RJ Barrett)
If Cole didn't drop off and showed a sustained improvement it's more fair, but RJ was still a top 3 pick that is showing flashes so NY probably doesn't do it even then. If he was kind of in the Wiggins Minnesota era role of flattening out, maybe.

I think Barrett is more of a three and we already have Franz who is better.
