WE MUST CONTINUE WITH THE TANK

Post#1 » by orthoman » Sat Jan 29, 2022 12:37 pm

I realize there are no guarantees with getting a Top3 pick and we have had back luck in the past, but we better get serious with the Tank if we are going to maximize getting a Top 3 pick.

Keep winning and we risk getting caught up in the mix with Teams that have 2-4 more wins than us.

Three suggestions..

1.Bench Ross and ship him (and maybe Cole &/or Bamba out) asap before the deadline.

2.Start Fultz with a few minutes/game and see how the experiment with him and the other guards go...will shake up chemistry at the expense of points scored.

3.Look, any guys you put on the floor want to win...the idea is to put guys on the floor that are bad.

We have a chance of having a great team next year if we get a top 3 pick. I'm telling you, we can screw this up again.

It’s a lottery. How did the Franz pick work out? We will win between 6 - 10 games to close out season.

This might be an overreaction. We suck and are not in any danger of turning things around this year.
We are playing the young guys.
They are probably gonna trade Ross.

We beat the 2nd worst team at home. That's gonna happen when you play 4 times.

hahahahaha never saw someone panic so much after a win
Dude, we're 10-40 and we just defeated the only other team in the league that is able to be as awful as we are. The distance to the next competitor is 8 games (Indiana)....almost all the games we were able to win the entire freaking season.
Relax man, we've been (and we still are) totally serious about tanking. Otherway we should have already played Fultz and Isaac.

Time for a few more mysterious injuries which take forever to heal, LOL.

Speaking of this, what happened to MCW? Is he ever coming back?

Even this super pro-tank guy says: relax.

We’re now 1-2 against the Pistons. Look at the next few weeks of games. We’re probably going to go on a long losing streak. Also, this draft doesn’t have a LeBron/Durant level player at the very top of the draft to worry too much right now.

I’m not going to lie. I have said what the OP is stating to myself since we’ve stepped up our play and hit the softer part of the schedule. But all in all, we need to win some so that the culture is awful and to keep the youngsters moral up for the future while developing. We’ll be ok though. We will need to win some games while developing but I believe after the trade deadline and hopefully working some guys back in the line up from injury that we’ll lose enough to have a solid chance at that top pick. As long as we’re in the top 2 or 3 we’ll be alright.

This year I'm not worried about the tank race as much. I'll take better odds, sure. But no guarantee the best player is going to be at the top. Especially with this draft class.

I rather build with our core and win with them.

So you want them to stop playing Suggs and Franz and WCJ? Be reasonable, there is only so much you can do.

No need. Top 5 prospects are all pretty good and we are terrible.

Well...

I don't believe we have been tanking at all this season. We have just been very bad because we have been very hurt.

That said, as we have gotten healthier, we have gotten better. We have a net rating of -3.8 since the beginning of the new year. That's roughly a 31-51 team if played out over an entire season. This team could actually be decent if it could ever get healthy, but we haven't seen anything close to a healthy squad this year.

I'm not saying I wouldn't consider tanking at some point this season if the situation warrants it, but I'm certainly not sacrificing our development to try to manipulate the outcome by a slot or two this year. The distinction from last year is that we didn't have much talent to develop at this point a year ago.

I think part of the reason why Fultz and Isaac haven't returned yet is because we are TANKING.

We have the worst record in the NBA and tied for first in 2022 NBA Draft.

How serious do you want us to be?

Why do we do this every year? While I doubt this one win against the Pistons is make or break, we have been screwed in the lotto for the last 18 years. You gotta do your best to mitigate having the worst luck of the last two decades.

Is this a joke thread? Our tank is as strong as it can get this year. Our FO must be thanking their lucky stars that Covid messed up the regular NBA. I mean these " injuries" and whatnot could've gotten them fined in another year.
