That makes sense tho, you put rookie coaches in games with least amount of media pressure and against teams that don't expect to win all that much.

I've noticed if we look at a ref wrong we get a technical. In the same game the opposing player would have to tackle the ref before he'd get a technical.

How sad would you be as a ref to know that you’re assigned to the worst teams because you’re bad at your job?

Refs have to be developed too...Experience matters -probably more to refs than to players. Why shouldn't they be working the JV?

Doesn't say that they robbed us, just that our lightly-viewed, lightly-discussed games (more like under the national radar and also less likely to have mistakes impact meaningful outcomes) don't rate the best refs.

Complaining about refs on any kind of regular basis is just wasting your breath...(1)humans miss calls-it doesn't mean they're out to get us (2) our team is not good (3) everyone in and out of the league knows winning is not our priority right now, so the stakes aren't that high

They aren't sending the worst refs to the Magic. They are training the youngest most inexperienced refs in games that do not matter. Imagine if Curry vs. LeBron tonight went down to the wire and you got this young new G-League ref having to decide whether LeBron fouled Curry on a game winning shot.

People/Bettors would be livid no matter what they called.

First, rookie ref does not equal bad ref.
Second, this doesn’t mean the magic would be at a disadvantage compared to the other team we’re playing that is being ref’ed by the same young refs.

I don't think there is any question that the quality of officiating in our games has been poor. I just can't go along with bias as the explanation for it.

I’ve watched a ton of other games this year and think that officiating is just bad in general. Not just our games. Refs can’t agree on what the thresholds are for certain calls at this point. NBA officiating is WAY too subjective at this point. Nearly everything outside of stepping on a line is up for interpretation.

I apologize. I should have put the whole OP in green font. I was just trying to be silly about a stat I saw on twitter. I didn't mean to make you guys get wild and crazy serious.

Meh. I take nothing on this forum all that seriously even though I may harp on things. Basketball is a form of escape for most of us. This is all in good fun… at least, it is to me.

It is too late. You hurt my feelings! I am now drinking some cran-mango juice to cheer myself up.

I lied. I am drinking the juice because it is delicious.

What I reflectively add is that as Orlando is getting "not the worst refs", it would be a statement from tthe referee's union that Orlando is improving. As it is they that determines rotation patterns.

Plus: don't we want our rookies and wünderkinder to learn how to respond to "terrible calls"?

Duh!

You dont assign your assets, or even highest paid assets, on the worst product in the league. Bad for business.

A good ref performance dont increase viewership.

When the highlight of the season is "Player Development", we can all expect to ramble here and there!

Not only are we seen as a developmental team for other teams, the league also sees us as a throwaway team lol.

We've also had the hardest schedule this early in the season. We only have five road games left. Usually after the all-star break we have another west coast trip to do.
